Silent Hill F

In the end despite the clunky combat the story I thought was quite shocking and will stick with you for a bit.

It's classic Japanese themed horror. It's got similar themes to other Japanese games such as the Yakuza series. (Or rather the spin off Judgement)

Still have to complete got a bit bored of some of the obscure puzzles & backtracking required...its a very solid title...I think SH2 remake is a bit better though overall.

I have died on this boss too many times.

Boss lol. You need to savour each enemy encounter as this game has overwhelming variety and it's absolutely certain that you'll never see this one again.
Plus the combat is thrilling.

Weirdly I have found that I can do combat better with the G7 Pro than with the Dualsense, the asymmetrical stick layout seems to work better for ergonomics during combat and the controller is slightly smaller as well. Think I will play the remaining with Xbox layout now as a result.

I’m late to the game on this one but I’m enjoying it - visuals are much less janky / stuttery than the Silent Hill 2 remake, which I found very distracting.

Only just done the ‘scarecrows’ so a long way to go I expect!

Its a decent game. Surprised you like it more then SH2 though.

I just found the performance issues of SH2 perpetually annoying - I don't really understand why it was so janky but it kept on making me think my PC had issues, even after the patches.

F is running fine though, just one random alley that caused hitching issues and not had it since.

Just got to the school and calling it a day.

Cor, I'm playing on 'hard' and that Sekuko-like entity was a bit tough...!! No room for any mistakes!

How are you finding the game? It has dropped in price a lot. But I am still not tempted.

Yeah it’s alright! Some things are great, others a bit odd.

The enemy and sound design is generally excellent, some really creepy things going on. Aesthetically it’s great with its Asian town vibe. Top marks on those fronts. Do avoid the dubbed English voiceovers as it feels very distracting / out of place.

Playing on ‘hard’ the combat is a little strange, it has a dodge / parry system that is pretty tough to manage and with fast paced enemy attacks and you can find yourself stun locked to death. The first ‘proper boss’ that shows up (Sakuro-like entity, IIRC) is like something out of Dark Souls… brutal! I was pretty shocked how hard it was, took me about half an hour to do it at least and I’m an elite gamer pro. This is possibly a game that is better to play on easier difficulty settings, because upgrading / staying alive feels a bit ‘trial and error’ until you can endure things.

As above, the puzzles can be absurd / too cryptic to the point I’ve looked up what-the-heck I’m supposed to be doing. This seems a common complaint online.

Exploring the environments is fun - they are well detailed - and sort of necessary for the health items.

The story so far is flip-flopping between the ‘real’ (?) world and a ‘dream world’, the latter being OK but seeming a bit filler-y to me. Hopefully it’ll end up being cohesive in the end.

Keen to play a bit more tomorrow!
