Silverstone ft02

I really have no idea what case I want now. I can see the Raven 2 and fortress 2 just being of a design that doesn't get repeated. The more I look at the FT02, the less it's appearance appeals to me. Perhaps I need to look at the lian li range again...

this doesnt bode well for the unreleased FT2 maybe the delay is redesigning the case so it can fit the 5870, perhaps the case we see in the pics are just very early prototypes they should have considering ssds/super long graphic cards if they remotely know anything about cases and computers.

Just read that the 5870 apparently fits, but the 5870x2 may not fit. Not sure whether this is the cause of the delay. (Personally, I don't care about the 5870x2; I just wish they'd release the thing already!)

As for SSDs, the RV02 has a bracket for mounting a (single) SSD between the back wall and rear outer casing. I'm guessing there's a good chance the FT02 will come with the same bracket. (Anyone know for sure?)

So, I e-mailed Silverstone shortly after posting the previous comment, asking when the FT02 was due for release... No response.

If that's an indication of their attitude towards customer support, I might just be tempted by the Fractal Design case that's been discussed in this forum today. :p

Hopefully the delay is due to the redesign for the 5870 and 5870x2, if it is then its good we need a case thats just future proofed for sure.

The Fractal Design is the next best option, but dam these guys shoulda known to use 140mm fans, there bigger/more silent and better airflow, if F2 releases with just 3 180mm fans... and is bigger/taller we may have a winner.

Tony Ou from Silverstone has said these cases are shipping from the factory this week. Here are the latest pictures of the black version with the window.

be nice to know if they have made alterations to fit the latest ati cards, sure my 4870x2 will fit though. Think this is goin on the cc as an early christmas present to myself.

Tony posted this regading the 5970's

"we have 5870X2's CAD drawing and it is 12.1 inches long excluding the end-plate (the steel part that screws into the expansion slot).

So the FT02 and RV02 can fit the 5870X2 with middle fan's plastic fan grille removed.

We also have the 5870 cards and they are 11.5 inches.

Hopefully we'll get the 5870X2 soon so we can take a few photos of them installed in our case and post them on our website."

Thats some good news too hear its 5870x2 compatible but i would have thought the fan grills like 2-3 mm thick at most if not less ?

Surely that would not make any difference !

One could remove the fan itself I guess but to have an 180mm fan blowing over that hot card would be awesome at keeping it cool running. May get some smaller cards in the future, maybe nvidias next gen cards are smaller too.

Still it would have been nice if they had gone back to the drawning board and add an an extra inch or 2 for longer cards ;)

well i been thinking of getting a new case and this fits the bill perfect, except the window which im pretty sure they will (should) do a non-windowed version.

hopefully ocuk will haev these soon :D

CustomPC reviewed the Raven RV02 in their latest issue and it didn't do that well. They put it up against the CM 840, that Antec 900 gaming case, and the Lian Li Armorsuit P50. What I found interesting is that the Lian Li did much better, and it's basicaly only got 1 intake, and 3 outtakes - 2 on top, and 1 in the back, so very much negative airflow. Whereas the Raven is very much a positive airflow case. I don't think they described their test method, but if I didn't know better I would be ruling out the silverstone as my next case.
