Like him or loathe him, Silvio had a great sense of humour, garnered a lot of support in Italy and certainly knew how to throw truly Bohemian parties with some top looking Italian totty in servile attendance ;)

No doubt there will soon be some ridiculously claiming the bints were "abused" rather than freely queuing up to mix with Italy's wealthy and powerful, but that's where victimhood by proxy has brought us these days.

Rest in peace Silvio, you did indeed have great charisma in a more and more uncharismatic political world. Time to have a slap at the angels.
 
A man who created a media empire, used it to get elected. Changed the laws so he couldn't be indicted for his corruption. Used his media empire to get elected again along with a load of his mates/employees so they could support his corruption in office. The man was pretty much in the Mafia, worked with those in the Mafia and helped keep Italy as one of the most corrupt countries in Europe but because he liked to shag young models he is a hero to Chris Wilson.

If that was the criteria for Chris' admiration then everyone would be his hero! ;) I think being a scummy corrupt right wing Authoritarian is more the basis of his opining.

You realise I'm a misogynist, don't you? Whilst I have no problem with him having a penchant for partying with good looking and willing g irls, it's hardly how a misogynist chooses those they wish to rest in peace.

Silvio being an actual hero of mine is just a figment of your overactive imagination, I don't speak Italian, don't like their food and as you well know I am suspicious at best of foreigners :)

Otherwise an insightful and incisive sleight of me.
 
He modelled himself as Caesar albeit twenty centuries late. Italy had mixed views about Berlusconi, many loved him many did not. A bit like when I worked in Spain in the late seventies . Everyone asking if I had liked Franco, a slightly touchy subject.

I should have put that in quotation marks, but the man's ability for wriggling out of scandals and emerging unscathed with a cheeky smile and a pelvic thrust was bordering legendary. I stand by the notion that he was there at the start when right leaning politics swept across Europe, Berlusconi paved the way for the Marine Le Pens, The Salvinis and Melonis, The AFD and so on.
