Sim racers - what are you running?

I run a pair of Dayton BST-2's, they are in incredible addition.

I'm not sure if it was a coincidence or not, but last weekend I was struggling to get a decent lap time together in practice, then realised I'd forgotten to turn the Nobsound amp on. Once I turned it on, I was orders of magnitude quicker.

I ended up bolting mine directly to the underside of the seat, it's pretty powerful. I don't feel the one under the pedals all that much, I may need to fiddle with that.

I'm running a similar setup (4x Daytona TT25 pucks). It's amazing how dead your rig feels if you forget to turn them on.

I recently fitted BSt-1s to my rig. Unfortunately, one of them is DOA so trying to arrange a return.

Question regarding RF2 - has something changed in an update? I haven't played RF2 for a while but it was my go to for Ring practice albeit with an M2 - I've been using RaceRoom this time as I can run a Cayman GT4.

Tried the M2 last night and it was pretty much indriveable. There was far too much lock in the wheel and even after fiddling with it, felt awfully vague. Really had to feather the throttle or the back was coming round even on very low speeds. I thought perhaps tyres were cold but even after half a lap, was like driving on ice. Shame as RF2 always felt the most realistic to me.

Been sim racing for a couple of years now, using an aluminium profile rig, on the pedal plate I use Treq foot rest on spacers to get a bit higher up my VRS pedals. I find my breaking foot heal always starts to ache after a while (I race in socks)

Do you guys use anything or know of anything to stop your heal hurting? thinking about changing the Treq part out maybe for something else that allows me to push my heal up against something as I'm kinda hover braking and think there must be a better way

They are realy good and UK based.
Got a prime rig with a sparco seat on it and its really solid.... I'm running a 18nm wheelbase and it could easily cope with more! service is really quick and comes well packaged too from Scotland.
Is something like simlab better quality? definitely, and that's why it's more expensive. That being said the GT omega Prime is plenty good enough and has zero flex anywhere inc the pedal plate!
The only thing I don't like about it and it's a small gripe is the plastic end caps - on parts like the monitor mount they have made really nice end caps with tee nut cut outs so u don't have to remove them if you wish to add hardware to your rig, however the main prime chassis they don't they are bog standard caps and I find it annoying that they do better ones but don't let you buy them for the rest of the rig

I have a sim lab rig. Only because I'm a fanboy lol and they are thicker than every one else.

Minor though as its not as if the GT omega is made of paper.

They are brilliant

Just got myself what I feel was a pretty great deal on a fanatic dd csl kit from marketplace for £200. As is often the way that was an increase from the budget I’d put for the wheel and pedals and I’m now looking at some form of rig to put them in.

How much better is a proper seat based system that a wheel stand? I’ll be looking second hand, so to some degree I’ll be getting what’s available, but I don’t really want to spend more than £150. Is a stand a waste with the wheel I got?

some of the vr guys use a playseat challenge Dan iirc having that same wheelbase, seating position is so much nicer in a rig than a stand.

I’d been having an alright time with the G29, especially after the aluminium bearing bracket upgrade, and pedal spring changes. I’m guessing using it more and it being several years old finally caught up though and it **** the bed. Thought about buying replacement internal board, but then decided to get something that was a bit less toy-like.

Moza R9 v3 with the KS wheel, and some Simsonn Pro Plus pedals bought and the G29 launched into the bin.
Will set everything up tomorrow, but did a few laps on F1 just to test things out. What a difference, especially in the feel of the pedals. Haven’t done any adjustment at all on them, and they are still infinitely better than the G29 pieces of junk! Mounted to my cheap-as-chips Taobao frame/race-seat.

One bad thing, and it backs up a lot of reviews I saw… The KS has a bit of rattle from the buttons. Will definitely be doing the foam mod to dampen that.

Well I managed to find an “the ultimate racing cockpit” on marketplace for £100 which seems to do job pretty well. Not a bad total setup for £300. I am however hopeless! Been trying some races against AI in Assetto Corsa and I’m lucky if I don’t come last. I always throw it off on at least 1 corner and get myself 20 second penalty. I really should use that left pedal a bit better

I wish my G29 had kicked the bucket much earlier. The Moza R9/KS and Simsonn pedals, feel absolutely amazing as an upgrade.
I realise that I'd been putting up with G29 nonsense, where it always felt like there was a huge disconnect to what was happening. You just got used to it though.
Everything feels right with this wheel though. No longer feels like I'm always driving on ice.

  • For you sim users out there, can anyone recommend a solution for this! so I have triple monitors hooked up to display ports , but also Like using my VR headset which is also display port . the issue is that my GFX card only has 3 display ports and 1 x hdmi port that I don't use. I looked at a hdmi to display port adaptor to plug into the hdmi port on the GFX card but there seemed 3 different types. Anyone on here had the same issue and how did you get round it?
