Nah but SC4 was by far the best game out of the series, this feels a bit dumbed down in comparison. Still looking for a good simulator after sc4...

I'd just play SC4 if it ran good, didn't crash so often, and wasn't that buggy.

It looks really good.

My question about Sim City, is why is there not an indie version of it these days? It seems like such a popular niche that I though some clever Joe would be working on one.

Disasters video. I think Maxis should keep up with the times and have simultaneous passenger airline terrorist hijacking as a disaster option.

Hope its an option you can switch off and they don't waste to much time and money on an feature I will turn off

More interested in how the region play works and does it actually work unlike Cities XL.

I know its still early days but i hoped after watching the video, the landscape would change depending on the disaster and the infrastructure would collapse like any other real life sim.

Hope at least there would be rubble to clean up and roads demolished.

Its WIP though isnt it, they dont need incredible animations, maybe it would have been good to polish them up particularly for a feature video where they'll be prominently displayed, but seeing unfinished work in a WIP game shouldnt really be a concern for something thats still 4 months away from release. If its out next month, sure, and to be honest, i've no interest in the disaster aspect, i might play with them cos im bored, but i dont see them as a part of the game that interests me.

What i will say though is if you look at some of the existing models and their intricate animations giving life to the buildings, i find it unlikely they'll then have destructable buildings which do so by being sliced in half in the finished product. It wouldnt make sense, so im sure we'll see nice crumbling/exploding animations in good time, rather than buildings splitting in half or a few huge chunks of building.

Biggest problem I see at the moment, apart from the EA branding is the 'city' size, the maps look tiny and all footage so far looks like a small town rather then any kind of city.

The whole scale doesn't seem to make sense imho, which is off putting!

there are some videos out there that show more than 1 city on the region, the videos you have seen are probably game play from a new game/early on so you think they are 'small' when really it's just a start up town, and not a city as of yet.

ive never once had disasters enabled in a sim city game and dont plan too with this one.

Ive always been someone who was quite anal about twaking sliders to make sure my police, hospitals, schools, libraries etc had good coverage and watching graphs of pollution levels etc :D

I dont plan to build acity to have a great stomping robot wreck it :D

I mean the scale of the buildings and roads and such....
A row of 50 houses doesn't make a neighborhood and certainly doesn't require a 2x3 lane avenue...

If a row of houses doesnt require a 2x3 lane avenue... dont build one.
Theres skyscrapers, and buildings in between, and i doubt you'll be using 2 lane roads there. So whats the problem?
