SimRig build*..........*build includes building a shed for it 1st

OC delivery yesterday :)

She's just missing a CPU (gfx and psu in my other system and i'll swap over). I am / was hoping for a 5900x but with none of those in sight i've got a 3600 arriving today that will get me up and running.

Hopefully moved into the shed over the weekend.

Mammoth build!

Thank you.

Have you considered a mini bar? I mean when you have won a race its always nice to celebrate :p I love the look of the Lian Li cooler nice and clean, PC is going to be great when its all done!

I did consider a water feed but decided against the expense due to the shed being close to the house. When we extend the drive will need to be dug up for a new toilet. At that point I'll have an easy option to run a cold water feed in and maybe have a coffee machine or hot water tap. Fingers crossed on the PC...

Looking great so far. Subbing even though the finish line is in sight......:)

Hopefully the end is close. Thanks for your optimism.

What a great job you have done so far, so neat and a very thorough job. Bet you can't wait to get it finished and get racing now. Interested to hear how easy the P1X goes together I'm deciding whether to get one of those or a Trak Racer TR160.

Thank you. Nearly there now, yes I’m looking forward to enjoying the space.

P1X all day long. @mikehhhhhhh will give you some trackracer insights.

A little bit of progress. I've run the uplink for the ethernet back to my cab so now I have wifi inside. Moved the PC in and my zwift setup. 2 old monitors on the stand to see if it worked.

And was gonna say go careful, as had a pc out in a shed, turned on when it was cold in winter and pop. Up in smoke. Must have been condensation/dampness inside the unit. There was only a little bit on the windows as well.

Ahh yes, that's the existing garage. That wall out of picture you can see daylight through some of the cracks. I've a plan to pull it down, rebuild and turn it into a cinema room.

I've insulated the shed so well it's crazy warm inside even now. I've not turned the heating on at all and when i'm working it's t shirt conditions. I'll try and find a wifi temp sensor that can log temps and be monitored remotely. I expect there's an app for a pi or a stand alone IOT box.

This is awesome, everything looks so tidy and well done.
Is there anything else you want to add once the rig is sorted?

Thank you. Zwift setup and a Running machine plus the sim rig is the main aim. I think the MIL has a ***** old rowing machine that she wants to donate so i'll see if I can find room for it.

really neat job all round! well done

Thank you.

Minor updates:

Kitchen almost finished. Worktop, plinths, various trims and then door adjustments to go.

Wall mount for a bike.

Screens for the Sim have arrived.

Kitchen all finished.*

My free OC matts are just too deep on the worksurface, obviously. Ha.

*For anybody reading, don't buy a B&Q kitchen for your house. Fine for a shed but save yourself pain and aggrovation and buy pre made units from another supplier.

Just to come back to you on this - I went with the P1X from Digtal Motorsports thanks to your advice and put most of it together yesterday.

It really is a quality piece of kit - goes together so well. I did watch a build video before it arrived though and that really helped. Also they got it to me within 3 days of ordering it despite it coming in from the EU - amazing.

Need to finish getting it all set up now and get some miles in!!! Going to be a massive upgrade to my wooden frankenstein build.

Excellent. Pleased to hear it. Yes DMS certainly seem to be able to send stuff from the EU to thr UK without issue.

This has been one of my favourite threads on OcUK. This is exactly what I want to build once we are in our forever home for use as an office and Zwift setup.

Brilliant, cant wait to see it complete!

Ahh, thank you. High praise. I've been without a gaming PC for over 10 years and had to turbo in a cold garage for 5+. It's been a long wait but it's worth it now it's usable.

A donated rowing machine and a new running machine have been added. Here's how it looked yesterday.

Wow what a build. And thanks for the recommendation on the rubber roof kit - will be just the job for my actual shed

The facth that i read every single post on this thread speaks volumes of how impressive i was at this project!

Thank you. Sorry I forgot about it for 2 years! opps. Jesus, 2 years. It only seems like yesterday I started building it.

I built it myself. Outside help was the brick laying, electrics, plastering and flooring. Everything else was me. I just winged it, I’m not a “tradie”.

Love it. This has given me insight to how something like this is built. Helpful becasue I'm in the process of buying a house with a similar structure split into an office/gym. I'm wondering, how you have run power and networking?. The reason I ask is
"ours" been done fairly recently so assume it'll be a fairly similar but I've only just thought about the networking side. I assume there's conduit and I should ask them, but it won't stop me buying the house so I'm just wondering what to expect and hoping I can get a wired connection to it if there isn't something already in place.

I have a playseat and G27 in my mums loft becasue I don;t cxurrently have space. Can't wait to go down the sim rig rabbit hole when we get moved!

That looks very similar. I've got an underground duct bring in power and ethernet. In the shed there's a fuse board and an 8 port POE switch powering wifi and CCTV.
