sims 2

Actually, the furniture in The Sims was 3D, you just couldn't fully rotate around it. It would, technically, be perfectly possible to import all the items from the original.

How good they would look, in comparison to the new stuff, is another story. Still, it would be nice.

It wasn't true 3d, you could look at it from 4 angles only, and you couldn't 'import' it into Sims 2.

(Great game btw; just managed to woo the house maid after a few days of her cleaning up after my other birds. Shame I accidentaly called the Adoption agency and I've got a grotty little brat cramping my style :( )

You're joking right? Sims 1 was a 2d engine. Sims 2 is a complete 3d engine. It's like saying, can I import FS2004 planes into Pong!

Maybe, but Sims 1 had decent furniture. Sims 2 has crappy furniture. Its like saying, can I import a Nova into Spie's car collection!

The furniture available in Sims 2 allows them to being out another 7 expansions at £20 apiece as before :)

I'm not sure what constitutes "true 3D" in your mind, but the furniture in The Sims was created in a 3D modelling package, then simply recorded at four different angles.

Each piece of furniture in The Sims would be viewable in a 3D application and, therefore, importable into Sims 2.

Ergo, the furniture data in Sims 1 is insufficient to render it in Sims 2. It would have to be done by the developers using the original models.

The "furniture data" is fine, they would just be fairly low quality. Of course you would have to use the original 3D models

Hence you couldn't import it from The Sims game as the disc didn't hold the required data.

I had fun with this last night while messing around. Went into one house in Pleasantville (can't remember the family name), and caused mayhem. Got the mother the sack, got the dad into bed with the maid, got one of the daughters to walk in on him, then sat back and watched the sparks fly. Was fun watching the mum and maid fight while the daughters and boyfriend looked on :D

I can see I am going to have fun with this game, ordered it yesterday, delivery is estimated for 30th or 1st. Can’t wait, in Sims 1 I would get frustrated after about 20 minutes, when they didn’t do as I wanted. From what I am hearing this version is much better, can’t wait to see how it runs on my PC, currently running:

P4 Prescott 3.0
1GB RAM
FX5200 128MB

Should run fine :) Running it on the same graphics card as you but only 512mb ram and an Athlon 2200 and it's pretty fast.

Quite addicted to this at the minute. In the first one it was quite frustrating how they didn't always do what you want and it ended up in chaos, but this version is a lot tidier, they do what you want, when they should. Cheated quite a bit in the last one also, but i'm building up a nice career and house properly with this.:)
