****SIMS 3****

Oh man, just set fire to the baby's room by experimenting on the toy box. Was hoping the firefighters would arrive before the child was enveloped in flames! Luckily, they arrived just in time.

Remember: if you're going to experiment on objects, move them in to the garden first!

Patch has made sod all difference to the various crash/corruption issues that I've had since day 1. It's even seen fit to remove the game's launcher shortcut from game explorer.

here is a couple more houses im working on, the game is still running fine for me too

Wish I could even build a second floor to my house. Just tried to since I have the funds, and then immediately as I tried to save I got an error code 12 in my face so I had to revert 20mins.

I think I have a very girly like for the game. I love to make me and my family and friends, then fall in love, get a job, make babies, decorate the house etc etc not really into the torture aspect but it is funny if you don't like a neighbour.

Oh my goodness I am itching so bad to play on Sims 3! I got so close too!

I could'nt afford to get it but my brother bought it, and it didn't work on his PC so he said I could borrow it *yippee* and it was Mac compatible! Brilliant. Got it back, Mac Book Pro not good enough pfft Tried my boyfriends computer (he's not into games) it started to install...I created our characters - wonderful. Then I go to build the house and crash. Screwed up all the graphics on the computer so had to restart. I got bored of doing this after the tenth time. Got my shuttle out of its dust pile because it did used to run HL2 fine, spent ages clearing it up but then after installing it informed me my gfx card didn't bite the biscuit. So I got a really good deal on a Nvidia GF 7200 on ebay (£13.50!) got it then realised it was PCI Express, and I have AGP. So re sold it that night and made a profit of £10 so have now bought myself a GF 6200. Awaiting it now. I hope it works! It's been approved but from all the stories knowing my luck it will struggle. eep.

Those houses look like something out of Grand Designs!

I too have recently been playing this and it seems to be far better than the second one. I love building houses and currently in the middle of one right now.

Do you lot concentrate on landscaping and design much? The one I am building now is really good. I have only fitted out the kitchen, the other rooms will take some time. Yes I have done the motherlode cheat too..

I just like designing houses.. I sometimes print off house plans from here and try to copy them. Very American though. You can really make some good houses using these plans. Yes you will have to alter certain aspects of the plans but it all comes good once you get used to reading them.

Here are some pictures of my current one. The build is 90% done but interior is now where even started yet lol.

Kitchen 50% done..

How do you start your houses ?

I find mine very random, and two houses are very rarely the same. It completely depends on where the house is on the map, and what the landscape is already like. The house, often comes out of nothing, just making boxes until I see something I like, my houses on the Sims 2 would take 4/5 days to get to how I wanted them :(

I do think the Sims 3, is a far better game then the previous games, I'm just not looking forward to the expansion packs. Another money sink.

Tummy - I pick the largest lot I can find and flatten it. If I need some elevation I will use the terrain tool to adjust as needed. I always (ones I make from scratch and not from plans) try to make it organic and not too neat if you get what I mean.

Once on the sims 2 I built my own house, 3 bed detached on the largest plot and then extended it as much as I could do in real life then expanded it loads. It turned out awsome.

I often find myself designing houses and then redesigning them, which can often take ... up to a week before I have my house just the way I want it.

It's also very annoying because I don't like using the money cheats, But often find myself drawn towards doing it.

I've not yet made my house in any of the games actually, might give that a go tomorrow.

I really do enjoy the house building side, and decorating, and now as it's so customizable it's brilliant fun.

I finally got my graphics card last night (nvidia gf 6200) and installed it. Installed the game and it worked like a dream. I still saved it every ten minutes or so awaiting the moment when it would crash but luckily it didn't. All the settings are on low as I was worried this would push it too far, but now I know it works like that I'll adjust them tonight.

I spent about 3 hours on it last night and that was only making my characters (me and my boyfriend lol) and then building the house. It's only a small bungalow but I did one motherlode cheat and bought us all the expensive appliances. After doing it all though I got a bit bored but it was late. I only played on live mode for a little bit so haven't fully tested that.

I got annoyed that it's not so easy to view the house. Like before you just needed to move the mouse to the top of the screen move the view across but now I realised after you need to hold down the right mouse button then do it.

Tummy, I can't wait for the expansions! There are a lot of options but it does lack in objects especially decorative ones. After having all of the expansions in Sims2 and then playing it without it does feel really restrictive!

You can turn on scrolling when you move the mouse to the edge of the screen in the options menu.

Noooo ! It means I'll end up spending more money :(

I really like the game as it is, I did with the first two games think "this needs more things" but I think that this is brilliant, especially with the downloadable content, I've got myself a new set of kitchen and other things :)

The sheer level of customisability means it's brilliant, changing and making your own colors schemes is brilliant (Y) well done to them for finally doing that.

I've not felt restricted yet :)

You can turn mouse scrolling on in the options, and you can also change the rate at which they age :D:D:D:D:D making your games last long and you can have a lot more fun with them :)

How the hell are you lot affording such houses?! Hope you ain't cheeting?! :p

i just build them in the edit town mode, its free that way :)

ive just done a video (mainly to test out the feature) of the house so far, i will need to re-encode it though as the raw file is over 1Gb :o
