Single drive setting to SATA/RAID problem

Hi, I've just bought the "Titan Accelerator" with no software installed and after installing Vista 64 I noticed that SATA port 1 is detected as an IDE hard disk in the startup bios. However I had wanted and believed I had set the hard disk to a RAID array.

Is there any way to make sure I set the drive to SATA2/RAID? I don't mind reinstalling Vista if I know this will fix it.

I actually thought it was running SATA2/RAID till I checked the HDTune benchmarks after reading the guide here. With a Burst Rate of 66, I knew I couldn't be. I've checked the SATA jumpers on the motherboard and they're set to SATA1 & SATA2 which I think is ok.

I think I might have made a mistake in not installing the motherboard software before installing Vista.

As you can see I'm in a bit of a muddle, can you help?

Thanks for the reply, but I thought I could set up RAID but not use it until I got another drive, if this drive is set up in IDE mode it means I wouldn't be able to use another drive with it in RAID doesn't it?

(I plan to get another drive in the next few weeks)

Thats right, you will need to do a re-install.
After you added the second hard drive, setup the BIOS for RAID, save and re-boot.
Enter the Intel utility but pressing Ctrl + I just after the first post screen and setup what RAID you need (0 or 1) save and reboot.

You can re-install the operating system, you may need to install the RAID drivers.

Hope the above helps.

Thanks RJC that should help me, oh and can I add an IDE drive in there with the SATA drive and RAID them?

I know it'll probably cause a hit in performance but purely as a temporary storage measure till I get my other SATA drive would it work ok?

I have my old asus P4C800-E set to "RAID" mode in the bios, and I am only running one hard drive on it (was planning to get another drive and run in RAID 1, using acronis to transfer the OS install to it though but cba to spend any money on an old system).
