** Single, Dual & Triple Card 7970 - BATTLEFIELD 3 - HIGH RESOLUTION BENCHMARKS **

Unfortunately OVERCLOCKERS.uk's 7970 review is terrible. sorry folks.. You should have done benchmarks with at least 5games. 7970's clearly have driver issues with BF3 and that is only game you have been posting which gives hopes to gtx580 owners clearly and not justifying the new cards purchase-on the other hand you are shooting yourselfs on the foot.

It would have been more logical to test various games vs gtx580 3gb and put the results.

Hold on a minute.
Were not trying to do a full blown review. First of all we don't have that many games easy accessible to us.
Second of all as were not a review site we don't have any one dedicated to reviewing.

This we have done in our own spare time to try and give some more hindsight on how these cards perform, we'd not expect anyone to make a buying decision on our small selection of testing. It has just been done to give people an idea on how they perform, overclock and how well Crossfire scales.

A full on review would take a good dedicated of 24hrs, possibly more, time none of us have unfortunately as we are busy with our day to day roles.

Is it wrong to think how ungreatful some people are? Instead of saying thanks guys for trying to show us some results and do as many benchmarks as possible, all people can do is flame us because we've not done enough......... :rolleyes:
 
Thanks Gibbo, don't mind cestvrai. We appreciate the tests.

BF3 is the most popular and demanding game right now. Like Gibbo said, they aren't a large review site to test huge numbers of games. I couldn't care less about some obscure games anyways as I mainly play just BF3 and Skyrim.

I am not flaming you or anything but i say that displaying results for only 1 game may lead into wrong impression regarding this new high end card hence i call it a risky move. Youre kind enough to give tests for this game but not everyone is going to play BF3 only and ATI Catalyst team may also be releasing new drivers for the game before 9th Jan.

Vega i know you are going to buy 4 of these cards + wc them 1300mhz + no matter what :) Hope AMD team can satisfy you with these cards unlike your bad experience with 6970x4.
I respect your GPU enthusiasm.

Its the only game we've had time to test, bar Quake 3 and no one is interested in Quake 3 as an 8800 GT will play it maxed out fine.

We choose BF3 simply because its currently one of the most popular and most played games out there and people have purposely delayed an upgrade to see how the new cards perform in BF3. As such it was that game Rich set aside half of his day to benchmark for you guys.

I've done my best by supplying you Heaven and 3D Mark results too.

I am today if I get time going to test on GTX 580 3GB clocked to maximum in Heaven, 3D Mark series and Quake 3.

I will have another look at BF3 but am clueless what I am doing with that game and Rich is off ill, does anyone know if there is a simple timedemo command I can run on BF3, basically give me some instructions on how to perform an easy test in BF3 and I will do it.

I've already said that forgetting the results I would buy the ATI 7970, even for BF3 as to me it looked more fluid and the colours seemed a little more vivid, I basically preferred the way the game played on the ATI card and for me that would sway it. In Crossfire ATI certainly seemed to have the edge in fluididness but both cards were pumping out 60+ fps averages. :)

We all know this is early days for the 7970, GTX 580 has had a year for drivers to mature, 7970 will find more and more performance as the drivers mature over the next month or so and the 7970 is clearly a good 30% faster on average than GTX 580 from other testing, but today I am going to do more testing just to see the differences for sure.

I shall post a new thread later today comparing:-

GTX 580 3GB Stock VS 7970 3GB stock
Plus OC'd to max on both too
In Heaven, 3D Mark, Quake 3 and if someone gives me a simple timedemo for BF3 shall include that too.

All shall be done at 1920x1080 and 2560x1600 on single cards. :)
 
Wouldnt mind seeing a metro 2033 timedemo benchmark as that stresses the absolute crap out of my 3gb 580GTXs. Serious sam 3 is also very demanding with some of the largest vram usage I've seen so far on ultra (1900mb at 1080p) so also might be worth a look if you can get hold of them.

Reviews all over the world already.
and yes people are ungrateful most of the time.;)

BF3 is pretty much optimized but not for GCN yet, check BF3 without AA and mssa and such and it might show a different outcome even with current driver.
 
There are loads of review sites posting dozens of games at multiple resolutions, go look at them if you're interested in a specific game!

Still looking for something to replace my 2x 5870 with a single card, especially since they're 1gb and I'm on a Hazro. This could be it!
 
Why don't you buy three cards and try them your self, you can bench what you like then,

In the past i did that. Unfortunately the new cards will arrive to Turkey at a later date. The point i was making is testing the card on a single game would not justify its premium over previous generation cards.
