Honestly, based on the threads in the PC Gaming section of these forums BF4 is currently a buggy, unbalanced mess. I have no doubts that once they finish patching it it will be great but don't rush into getting a new card now to play a game that is essentially still in beta.

Play it on medium settings now without AA, then really appreciate the difference when you get your new card (290 with third party cooler) in a month or two.

Advice above is spot on if bf4 is the only game you are playing @ 1080p

I upgraded from a 560ti 2gb that could handle bf4 medium-rare to a r290. bf4 is soooo bloomin buggy i've hardly had chance to play in max settings.

Given the choice again, I would wait a month or two and get a r290 with third party cooling solution.

Thanks very much for all the suggestions.

I ran BF4 last night (my first opportunity) on my HD5870 and ran on medium surprisingly well.

I shall therefor wait for the non-reference 290s and just hope they're out soon
