Singularity now on steam

why was there no marketing at all? I never heard a thing about this.

That's the big mystery. It was quietly released in the UK with minimal marketing, and very low stocks. No high street retailer had any copies, and it took me a while to find one online. It wasn't available on Steam in the UK at launch either - only turning up in the Christmas sales with minimal hype.

It's almost like Activision was intending it to fail.

TBH, it's a bit like Wolfenstein. The same thing happened there. Hardly any marketing. Good-to-mediocre gameplay. Skipped by a lot of people.

I was ready to buy this day one last Summer but I have still not bought and probably never will. Why? FOV. There's no FOV fix that actually works and the default FOV is completely unplayable for me.

Just started playing this game & would really enjoy the graphics/game more except for this what you pointed out. The FOV is abysmal & everything seems on top of you. (widescreen monitor here). Even felt a little queasy with it. Shame there seems to be no fix/alteration that can be made. Spoils what might be a good game.

I forget how long I spent on it but something around 15 - 20 hours if I'm not mistaken. Mind you, I like to explore and take my time on most games.

me too, thats not too bad, once the price comes down, ill stick on on my list 'to buy'

This game is good but keep in mind no one plays multiplayer, so if you were hoping to play it online youre in for a dissapointment.

Tend to get 56KBps (byte not bit ) but can slow even more, I have no idea what ping I get haven attempted a game in years, provider is irrelevant it seems been with 2.. no difference

Couldn't stand the fov in this game from the start...however, gave it a good go......tried to convince myself I didn't hate it as much as I knew I did.....went back to play it again earlier today only to find I'd forgotten I'd deleted it to save further hatred...glad I did. (Must be getting the Davedude bug). What a "been there done that" **** game. I'm hard to please these days.

Wow this is the best single player game I've played in a long time. Some of the game mechanics are not original (e.g. mavity gun-esque effects) but the ageing and um, unaging (?) and the deadlocks etc are brilliant fun. Weapons are sweet. The overall effect is some reallly dynamic gameplay. Loads of fun to be had. The first thing I'm going to do when I finish is reply it again on hard, haven't felt like that about a game since half-life 2.

Why on earth did they not tell anyone about this game? I think it's brilliant. For anyone who's into Single Player FPSs, this is class.

I rented the game on Xbox as a 'lets see what the fuss was about' type thing, and I must say I really enjoyed it. Had a very old school vibe but in a good way, its a shame Activision left it to die on release.

15-20 hours? What in gods name were you doing for all that time. Theres about half that, and definitely not enough 'off the beaten track' to take up more than another couple of hours if you really took your time. 5-10 hours is more likely.

Singularity is a great little game, I picked it up in the Steam sales at Christmas and loved it. It doesn't do anything outstanding, but at the same time is really satisfying with some nice mechanics and some cool set pieces. I wouldn't pay full price for it, but if it comes up for £15ish I'd jump on it.

edit -Also, as Evil said, 8-10 hours max, you don't even need to replay it to get the alternate endings as theres an auto save point just before the last scene!

There isn't a right and a wrong you know? Everyone plays differently.
