Sinister Twin.

Well I got a bit paranoid. Nothing had shipped so I phoned HQ today. I had a feeling it was either BF causing bedlam or DPD being overwhelmed. However the mobo I ordered is now out of stock so I was paranoid about it not coming.

Turns out it was DPD. I bet BF is a horrid time for them. It has now shipped and providing its here before 2:30 tomorrow all will be good. If not I'm out for a flu jab.

I wasn't going to CNC anything for this build. Then I remembered I'd had an idea on the white one that I never carried out so I'm going to do that and make a cover panel for the inside to cover the wiring.

I've ordered an A4 limited edition acrylic so I shall be using that. Should be more than enough.
yeah i think it gets mental for them this week. The postman said to me they haven't got time to deliver letters as there is so many parcels.

Yup screw them apples. Must be bedlam.

DPD are out. Any time in the next hour apparently. Wicked, I can have my flu jab later.

As such I bought this for the new PC.

Damnit, you're......right  Was thinking unkind thoughts about the random-brand SSD you'd bought but today was looking for one and discovered that Predator is better known as Acer and that the GM7 is about the cheapest known-brand that uses TLC rather than QLC - and endurance is far more of a consideration than performance for this particular use (plugging into a Pi at Gen2 speeds).

Their Predator range is their best gear. And it's really cheap for the spec.

I bought 32gb DDR5 for £83 before the madness. Its 6000 too!

And the packaging is exquisite. Hence why I've now got two sets of the memory and two of their SSDs.

The stuff came. Pics later. Oddly the board has many more connectors than the manual shows which is odd.

Talking of manual. There isn't one....

Me - "Oh you gits no manua.... Oooo free badge, get down"

:D

Board.

Flip it over, fit Gen 4 2tb.

Free badge !! :D

OK and this is the RAM. Like I said, beautifully packaged. In fact I have had Dominator Plats a few times and they came in garbage boxes. I mean look, it doesn't exactly matter but Acer's Predator range is just over the edge of budget. And if they can do it why can't other companies (hint, they just greedy mofos).

Arg. I totally pirated @Cenedd arg.

Nah, mines a threesome so clearly bests your vanilla effort! ;) :p
You spun them yet? What do you think?
Ease of fitting and wiring is clearly a winner (pinout on my build if you need it) and the fans seem pretty good as long as you turn 'em down a bit. I think the only thing that lets them down a bit is the side RGB. The marketing pics are...not exactly representative of reality. It's not separate LEDs, just shine-through from the blades so they're rather dim. That's about all I'd knock them for.

Edit: re SSD. I worked out how to save an additional £230 on that. Eliminate the software error, negate the need to scale-out, not buy any of it and take long enough to do so that any accessories you were also looking at have sold out in the BF rush!

I was going to buy a 265k. Missed out. Oh well I didn't need it any ways.

Fan not here yet. Coming Tues. Im just loading up on coffee before lugging a PC to mum's (the white one).

Hopefully that one will be done tomorrow.

OK I am here. I am going to be without a PC for a few hours so I figured I would post this first. Thankfully it is not a complete reinstall for the white one, but I am changing GPUs. So I am downloading DDU now and drivers for the 4080 Super.

I got a bit concerned over the NVME. It is Gen 5, and these get notoriously hot. The weedy little cooler with the mobo doesn't look up to the task, so.

I got that. If it makes a noise I will just cut the fan connector. The X570i Strix I am using also has a piddly fan, but I have never heard it.

Reet, back later. I just fitted a 1tb NVME into an external case so I can ditch the SATA drive. Just copying the data across now.

OK. One down, one to go.

No idea why the lights are showing as blue. They are the same pinkish/lavender they were before. Odd. Any way, the 5700X3D, 570i Strix and 32gb are in, along with the 4080S. Just downloading HL2RTX now. Never had a Nvidia card on a monitor since RT came out, and it is horrid to play using a controller.

One little bonus - My Razer monitor is hardware Gsync. I did not know that either, given it has never had an Nvidia card on it. I paid around £270 for it brand new years ago. Superb monitor, but I doubt I would stump up £600 for it. Thankfully it is the good 144hz one, not the terrible 165hz they released after.

OK finally "they" came. You know? that company. They were trying to force me into having all my Xmas buys delivered on Tues. I dared to ignore it and put today, they rock up at 8:30 pm lol. I did this earlier.

Then this just a minute ago.

I *think* I should be able to fit the board and some more stuff tomorrow.

OK so as I mentioned one very minor peeve with this case is that you can't pull out the front without removing the top. So this is the solution.

Take one keyring I bought for £2.99

And then.

I shall fit that in a short while.

Had a late night sesh last night. The board is now in.

Hopefully the dual fan will arrive today so I can get it done finally.
