Sir Patrick vs Cordon

James Corden is a comedian? That's news to me!

I just assumed that he was a part of the BBC's equal opportunities programme.

No. 1 thing people do about an insecurity is to get the joke in first to take the effect away from others.

It's a possibility that it is what James Corden does, it's not a certainty that he is insecure about his weight unless you know better? Part of his schtick appears to be "look I'm fat and oversexed, isn't that hilariously funny" - he's at least 30 years too late for that particular bandwagon, Benny Hill did it better and he had an amusing theme tune at least. Relying on physical characteristics for humour is fine if that's what you want but I don't realistically think that you've then got the right to complain when other people call you on it.

Absolutely not true. Ricky Gervais is hilarious and a genius, he's someone you either 'get' or you don't.

That's an intriguing definition of genius, I think it rather relies on you 'getting' him and finding him hilarious before you'd be prepared to ascribe that particular description to him. However I'm happy to accept that some people find him funny of course, we all have different tastes.

As for the James Corden and Sir Patrick Stewart spat, it looked rather scripted and I don't think either came out of it with their reputations enhanced.

You'll be able to find out if you watch Doctor Who on Saturday.

That won't be happening. I watched one episode (water monsters on mars or some rubbish) and nearly gouged my eyes out. How America with all its fairly well budgeted and decent effects loves this show so much is beyond me.

Pretty embarrassing for both of them, I like Stewart as he's a great actor but this was cringe worthy. No idea who the other fat bloke was but he wasn't very funny either.

Seems to me that essentially its two men, one of whom had a temporary lapse and acted like an idiot and one who has made a career out of nothing more than acting like an idiot. Both behaved like idiots, but as far as I am aware for one it was an exception rather than the norm.

With Corden in Doctor Who on Saturday all the sci fi geeks blindly defending Stewart are going to get soooooo conflicted.......

I am fat. He is fat. It is unhealthy and should be stigmatised. He is proud to be fat, and that is reprehensible.

He has increased risk of Heart Disease, Stroke, Type 2 Diabetes, Cancers, Fatty Liver Disease, Chronic Venous Insufficiency, Gallbladder Disease, Breathing Problems, Deep Vein Thrombosis, Arthritis... I could go on.

Should we worship his belly? Or ridicule him a lá Picard?

If you're fat, you're fat, loose the weight if you can't deal with it.

If he's happy with being fat, good on him.

I don't get it.

Steward went on the offensive from the get go and made snarky comments and the other bloke is in the wrong?

I guess I'm living in a world where the person being riduculed should just take it, accept it and the slighest retaliation means they are more "wrong".

Pathetic either way.

well to be fair hes probably not used to having someone acting like an imature burk on stage while hes trying to speak.

his attack was absolute rubbish and he just looked a fool even though cordon was equally retarded at the time, i bet picard wishes he said something half decent now

I could see from the clip why Sir Patrick Stewart got annoyed, but he should have acted more mature about it by saying something such as "if we could get on with it please?" not make an insult because of it, essentially dropping himself down to Corden's (I don't find the guy funny either btw) fail level.

From a professional point of view both failed. :(

The woman who came up afterwards should just have stayed out of it. Stupid *****.

he was standing behind Patrick while he was giving his speech looking at his watch and doing that looking up and spinning around thing and basically being a tit behind him till Patrick got annoyed.

much like he did with the f1 driver getting interviewed before butting i nand saying how he supported button etc and how he should win.

I reckon he was lucky he didn;t get a wrench to the face from the driver.

Maybe I'm not from a generation to appreciate Sir Patrick, but if you make a bit of a 'joke' like that, can you expect much else? :/ Surely if he's just offering friendly advice, can be done off stage?

Both in the wrong, but I suppose as Cordon is much younger and not so appreciated by the 'older' audience, he's suddenly the immature one. :/

Cordon has just got too big for his boots.

He's not funny, his World Cup song is a crime against music and we'll have forgotten him soon.

My source of events showed that he only started doing this after Patrick saw fit to publically offend the other guy.
Is that not what happened then? Because each news source seems to have tampered with the video, showing specific parts in different orders!
