I don't think anyone particularly came out of that with any credit.

Patrick Stewart should have known better, if he wants to take issue with someone's behaviour he'd have been better off doing it 'offline' so to speak, maybe a comment to the press when he can't risk getting shot down by a comedian. Probably just had one to many drinks, was a bit pathetic when he started going on about how they could see Cordon's belly from the back of the room.

As for James Cordon, I almost felt he missed a trick, a more witty comedian probably could have come up with better comebacks. Strikes me as the sort of guy who can be very funny with a little preparation, scripted/set-up jokes etc, but lacks the devastating sharpness of say a Paul Merton [insert someone else if you disagree].

Corden is a fat, talentless, moronic idiot who tries too hard. How he ever got to be the star he's become defies belief. When he goes into that high pitched voice of his, he's just doing a poor mans ricky jervais. I don't quite understand what Sir Patrick was playing at by trying to humiliate Corden onstage, but for Corden to get right in his face was ridiculous and asking to be punched. He should never have gotten further than Big Brothers Big Mouth in his TV career. I'd probably respect him more if he was selling pies and sausages behind the deli counter of tesco.

After seeing the full video and not the select scene in the OP I thought Corden made Stewart look like a fool and rightfully so for his initial and unneeded snipe.

Personally i'm a fan of neither but I can't help but think as this is OCUK their must be one or two trekkies with a bias opinion.

Corden is after an OBE, much like the one Stewart has for his distinguished career in film and theatre, including the Royal Shakespeare Company. These days though, you don't need to tread the boards of the Old Vic to earn one. Showing your belly like some cheap party piece and shouting very loudly like a chav is enough to meet the Queen.

I don't understand why is he is proud of his gut. I'm certainly not of mine and am working hard to destroy it. But, why bother? I can gain weight and be a talentless muppet like Corden.

I did like Corden the first 2 times I seen him, now.. not so much.. and not because of this, I admit i like stewart in his Picard Role, but he is so good at others, and for his age, should be a reminder to most folk (70 odd is cool) and his first screen debut was on Corrie, Lol, I cant believe that, haha in 67...

Absolutely not true. Ricky Gervais is hilarious and a genius, he's someone you either 'get' or you don't. Whereas someone like Corden, there's nothing to get, he's just loud, in your face, and unfunny. He's a comedian wannabe but he got lucky. Kind of like Posh Spice got lucky but can't actually sing.

Gervais is all about realism, a very understated subtle type of humour based on observation. It's REALLY clever and takes special talent to pull it off.

To me it's similar to comparing, say, Russell Brand (crap) to Jack Dee (brilliant).

as for Corden v Stewart , to me Stewart was rude, unprofessional and wasn't even funny , he should have kept his mouth shut until after the show imo
