I don't think anyone particularly came out of that with any credit.
Patrick Stewart should have known better, if he wants to take issue with someone's behaviour he'd have been better off doing it 'offline' so to speak, maybe a comment to the press when he can't risk getting shot down by a comedian. Probably just had one to many drinks, was a bit pathetic when he started going on about how they could see Cordon's belly from the back of the room.
As for James Cordon, I almost felt he missed a trick, a more witty comedian probably could have come up with better comebacks. Strikes me as the sort of guy who can be very funny with a little preparation, scripted/set-up jokes etc, but lacks the devastating sharpness of say a Paul Merton [insert someone else if you disagree].
