Skate!

weirdly i cant seem to flip into a manual, maybe 1/10? yet i can flip into a nose manual a good 8/10

Im addicted to the little funbox at the back of the park behind the main rail (2nd in the best trick challenge) so many things you can do off it.

Must get and download this. Always enjoy the TH games but they do go overboard by the time you get to the end which is a shame :(

I fondly remember playing Thrasher: Skate & Destroy however - if this plays anything like that (in terms of trick execution) I'll be happy :)

Yeah that was a great game, I loved it.

This is great. A realistic skating game has been missing for years since the first THPS came out.

Bloody hard though, and get's damn frustrating but it's all worth it in the end when you master it and then site back and watch the replay.

This skate.reel thing sounds good aswell.

Seeing as I most probably won't be bothering with Halo 3 I think I will pick this up.

Also maybe be an idea to set up a OcUK skating team :p

OH MY GOD. This game is awesome. Finally got it downloaded this morning and got about 30 mins play time, but I want MORE DAMMIT but I am stuck at work.

Seems like once you pick it up you can pull off some nice little moves and it is so satisfying.

I managed to kick flip into a grind, ollie out into a nose manual and then straight from the nose manual did another kick flip. It was AWESOME :)

Love it so far, definately getting this game. THe only thing that could let it down for me is if the challenges and story mode in the game is a let down.

Hell yes, a skating crew sounds pretty cool, to be honest i might actually put off playing halo 3 for a week or so after it comes out becuase i am not going to be able to put this down.

just downloaded the demo, its better than Tony hawks in the realism stakes and good fun to play. Liking it a lot or as much as any Tony Hawks game. Looks like skater boyz have best of both worlds now.

Just tried this out, it's pretty good.

It does take a while to get used to and is a bit fidgety. I couldn't complete the fliptrick->manual->fliptrick combo despite 5 minutes worth of attempts.

manualing is very tricky, much more so than i thought (thought it would be similar to amped 3's style tricks)

In case anyone hasn't realised you can revert by dragging the left stick in a semi circle from 3 to 9 or reverse depending on which way you want to revert. Ideal for people like me who are used to regular not goofy (as the player is goofy in the demo) But the best bit is if you use the right stick to manual then do a revert with the left you can do a pivot! looks pretty cool when you combine it with a flip trick straight after

This game will take a lot of practice and skill to even get competent at it never mind master it.

I really struggle getting my thumb to do what I want it to do, it's all so fiddly lol.

But as Gord said earlier it's all about repeating it and getting the brain to remember the movements, just like playing a guitar I suppose.

Theres two things i really cant do, grabs (probably 6 times out of 10) it just feels very odd doing an ollie with the thumb stick then using the triggers, i find myslef holding down the right thumbstick as i approach then just letting go of it instead of flicking it, too much tony hawk i think)

The other thing is bowls, doesn't help that the only bowl in the demo seems to always have another skater in there who repeatedly knocks me over  but i cant get the hang of pumping to get air, i've managed a few cool flip to stalls but haven't really got much air in the bowl, i assumeit'll be easier with bigger bowls in the full game.

I find myself not doing grabs which is really bad, I do it in THPS too, I tend to only do flip tricks. I agree about the bowls as well. I am really stuggling to get some decent air, and certainly I haven't managed to get enough air for a flip yet. When trying to front/back flip I usually end up on my arse.

sorry i meant flip as in flip trick, should have been clearer. Back flips and front flips are a bit too easy in this game IMO, you can quite easily do them off the boob thing in the middle.

Oh I see. My bad.

I don't think I have landed more than 1 flip. I guess I am doing them in the wrong areas.

damn its tricky to master, knda like a really complicated fightnight control system, could not get it to manual no matter how much i tried though.
