skittles vodka

yes and no because the water expands however being alky it wont freeze properly due to the lower freezing temp (-60 c correct me if im wrong) to water so yerh sure try it but put it in a plastic bag to be sure....

ive found vodka doesnt freeze any where near -60 more -20 it starts to get small slivers of ice in but i woudlnt of thought a normal freezer would be able to cool it enough to make it expand and break the glass

The last of the residue from my skittles has only just dissolved now (took 5 days!), but i did use a lot of skittles. Whats most annoying is that all the white stuff is right at the top of the bottle in one large lump, but when i pour it out it will mix with the liquid again... the top of the bottle is too thin to scoop it out aswell :(
Btw is it ok to put a glass bottle in the freezer?

Pour all the vodka into a big bowl or a jug. You can then scoop all the white crap off it and even filter it if you have some filter paper. Then you can wash out the bottle and put the vodka back in :)

I've not heard of it with watermelon. Most "melon" based ones I've heard are rock melon, or cantaloupe style melons.. You cut a section out of the top to give you access to the centre. Take all the seeds out, then fill with vodka and place in fridge. Periodically remove melon from fridge and top up vodka.

After melon soaks up no more vodka, cut melon into strips and consume.

Beware getting up, from falling over, is harder the more melon you eat.

OK. let me get one thing straight from the outset- I accept absolutely no responsibilty for your health if you try this yourself - I have and it does work but with all reasonable precautions things can still go wrong....
Now read on.

How to make Marrow Rum.

Take one marrow - a nice plump wide one is better than a long thin one.

Cut it in half length ways and scoop out the seeds
Place on silver foil large enough to eventually wrap it up with a decent air space (say 6 inches above)
Scoop out seeds until you get down to firm husk then add 6 table spoons of unrefined white/ brown sugar or however much to give a half inch coating to each slab of marrow.
Wrap it up in the foil and reserve in a warm place (a little above room temp is fine) and forget about it for a couple of weeks.
You should end up with very, very strong marrow rum (a beautiful green colour)
Drink - slowly.

lol we did the melon thing on holiday and it was class!

We used 1 massive melon then cut a small hole in top and poured a full big bottle of absynth in!, we let it stand for a couple of days then had some. Tasted quite nice. The rest of the melon ended up splatted all over the apartment walls/in the pool, as we were quite drunk and lads will be lads. Was hilarious tho ahaha

I found a perfect size glass to pour the vodka into to make it easy to scoop out the white mess:

Thats a litre of skittles vodka and the can of Lynx there is to show the size of my over the top glass :p (also notice the orange stain in the bottom right corner, thats from the 'Active G' suppliment drink in the other thread :o )

I also have a strange funnel that has a sort of filter inside it, and a tea bag to make the filter finer. Minus the tea of course...

okay guys, step by step me :)

Glad to see my thread rise from the dead again.

Going to make another batch which i plan to have ready for the first term back at uni.

Lol, love it how this thread is resurrected from the dead every few weeks.

My skittles vodka is still on the shelf, may crack it open again why the lady friend next comes up for the weekend ;)

We did all the normal flavours of skittles and some sour skittles bottles too and found conclusively that trebor extra strong mint vodka > all

Hmm, well i opened all 3 packets and put all the red and purlpe ones in two 375mlish bottles and filled them with vodka, shook them up and put them in warm water.

Now i have 2 bottles, one orange, one purple.

No skittles in sight

Just a thick layer of fat at the top.

Is it ready or should i leave it? or should i get more skittles and put them in?

So you think i should remove the fat then? Or leave?

I cant see any more skittles, will leaving the fat in give it more taste or anything?

I havent tried testing what difference the length of time you leave the fat in does to the taste, but leaving the skittles vodka for about a month does make it taste a bit nicer, bit less of a kick from the vodka in it, makes it a bit mellower.

I dont think that whether you take the fat out at the beginning or the end will make much difference, but if you leave it until the end, then you cant just decide on the spur of the moment to have a few shots, you would have to sit there skimming out fat. I left the fat in mine for about a week.
