It rather does but smaller and lighter alloys improve acceleration.

Santa Pod - Superb Stage 3 - 11.7 sec @ 121.74mph with a, very slow, 2 sec 60ft

With a good launch this had the potential of an 11.1-11.2 seconds run
Time for better dragstrip tyres next year !
