Skoda

Didn't realise the facelift vRS had suspension changes, thought it was just cosmetic.

Surprised the Insignia was uncomfortable too, would have expected a big car like that to be pretty nice for cruising. Post up some pics of your vRS when you get it :)

Yeh, only slight ones, such as they've lowered it. Main changes apart from this were:

- it uses the TSI engine instead of TFSI engine (chain instead of cambelt),
- cruise control
- led day lighting
- touch screen din with mp3/aux support (although some pre fl did have mp3/aux)
- 18" wheels as standard
- new front grill and headlights (think the back ones changed slightly also)
- rebadged vRS seats and also on back of the car
- front fogs (?)

Not totally dramatic changes, but they make it look a lot better :)

Re the insignia: might have just been me, but the seats are a funny shape and they have a bit at the lower back that sticks out, which I found very uncomfortable.

I'll get some photos this weekend if I can :)

Still loving my Mk3 vRS estate - cracking car. munches the miles up but has some decent poke for the back roads. Great car - very impressed and looks great!!

The other day at a petrol station a guy walked across the forecourt and asked me if I minded him having a look at the car as he couldn't believe it was a Skoda. He was driving a C class merc!

I think the estate is nicer looking that the hatchback on the Mk3. What colour did you go for? Goes to show how far they've come, but they've to thank the VAG Group for that :)

Anyone know what the on switch (the pull out one) that is next to the diagnostic port is for?

My skoda is loosing charge so quickly if i dont use it for 2 days i need to jump it. Its got a new battery and worked fine for about 3 months. The care doesn't get too much use anymore due to me having a work vehicle but the "old" battery lasted a good year before i started having problems.

Has any company / tuner started doing any serious work to the new VRS? I'm wondering how long before someone, somewhere, swaps a VRS engine into an SE or Elegance with 4x4 or the 4x4 from the latter into a VRS.

Picked up my new vRS today as per my posts above! Will get some photos up tomorrow or Monday :)

Love the TSI engine, so quiet compared to the TFSI :o

Afternoon fellow Skoda enthusiasts.

So I've had the Fabia VRS in mind for some months now. However I have concerns about the oil useage and posible engine replacement as a worst case scenario.

Do the later models i.e 62 plate onwards suffer from these problems as much/ common or is it generally pot luck? How many thousand miles driven do the problems start to show? I've seen one for sale with 4500 miles on a 62 plate so I'm not sure if this is a sign or me being paranoid.

Finally what kind of warrenty would I get purchasing any 2nd hand that is still under the manufactures warrenty time period?

Thanks.

Elf.

Picking this beauty up tomorrow :)

Anyone have a Rapid? Have a test drive on Saturday.

Currently driving a C2 so it's probably twice as big! Bit nervous! Are they comfy? Relatively quiet?

They seem very good value, and they have 0% PCP deals with 3 years free servicing thrown in.

I wouldn't worry about the size. I went from a fiesta to a focus to an octavia in a short space of time and the octavia is just as easy to drive. Personally if I were looking for rapids, I'd be looking at the approved used Rapids because they seem to have depreciated pretty badly within 1 year. It means you still get the advantages of a manufacturer warranty, but you can pay less for a car which will still essentially drive like new.

Does anyone know what size front discs I need for a 2004 mk1 Skoda Octavia 1.9pd tdi ambiente

Tried to register with briskoda.net but keep getting server errors.

on ECP website their are 3 options:

256mm
280mm
288mm

I've been browsing Briskoda all day, but it's pretty much all VRS owners on there. Nothing has confirmed the correct size for the 1.9 diesel. A few of them have mentioned 280mm but then when onto say the disc size for the rears. However this Octavia has drums on the rear...

Does anyone know where I can get more info on the EA111 and EA211 differences particularly with the 1.2 TSI?

I've searched on Briskoda and Wikipedia is just confusing, I'm interested to know what year the latest revisionof the 1.2 TSI took place, whats chain and whats belt driven, whats 8V and whats 16V, basically I want to know what is the newest and besterest 1.2 TSI available? Although I have a feeling I have this totally wrong and EA111 is ancient!?

Thanks
