I know - was just having a rant:D

It's just that I could have changed the tyre and been on my way in 5/10 minutes and not needed to spend £110 on a new tyre and 2.5 hours to get it sorted!

Even the AA guy said it's ridiculous these days, he spends most of his day fixing punctures due to lack of spare wheels etc, or dealing with petrol/diesel mixups etc. Nothing mechanical hardly at all.
 
That's a good thing right? Cars don't break down much any more. Ridiculous! :p

Agree about the spare tyre thing though, got a factory order that came with the option ticked and I was very grateful when I did get a puncture!
 
and the garage has you over a barrell as well. Tyre can be bought and fitted for £85 if ordered online. However I had no choice but to pay £110 for it after a bit of haggling as nowhere else had any without travelling another 20 mins each way ontop of the 30 mins to that garage.

I did call a couple of local places but no stock.
 
Also looking at the VRS Estate lease deal - did anyone manage to get any optional extras thrown in? - Also how does the deal compare to a PCP or HP deal - does it work out much better?

I really want the privacy glass by I don't really want to thrown the cash in the wind.

Paying for optional extras on a lease is a waste of money. Theres no final value consideration like there is with a PCP that you can bump up by adding extras. Your basically paying for the next owner of the car to have the extras.

When I got my lease order in matching the Simpsons Skoda deal it was cheaper than any PCP deal I could find. However, speaking to the guy, it sounds like the new Superb could have some really good PCP deals coming as they are working to a 75% residual value after 2 years, and 50% after 3.
 
Ah OK will have to go in and see what they say. There are a couple of extras I'd like so I think I'll have to do the sums with the salesman.

I've got my heart set on the VRS Estate as I still want a "sporty" car after the C - not really a fan of the Superb however good the deal is.
 
Went in on Saturday to look at the VRS. It's a nice place to be.

Popping back tonight for a test drive but they only have the diesel. Any thoughts on the engine choice? I do about 12k so not massive mileage.

If I can get the right deal I'll be looking at ordering an DSG Estate with leather / pan roof and maybe the upgraded media.
 
Is the diesel massively cheaper than the petrol? I can't see why you'd pick it on a lease for your sort of mileage for any other reason, but ultimately it isn't really going to matter it's not as if either car is going to lunch its engine leaving you to pick up the bill
 
Its an extra £245 for the diesel - much less than I expected.

I'm not really that bothered tbh - suppose it'll hold its value a little better. Will try the diesel today and see what I think.

Any thoughts on the stereo system? My C has got a cracking audio setup and I see you can also spec it with a sub in the boot and a central speaker too. Would it be worth the upgrade?
 
I'm told the Canton audio upgrade is pretty impressive.
The main reason I'd take the petrol over the diesel is that one of your exhaust ports on the diesel is a fake - all the exhaust happens at one side, the petrol engine as the proper dual exhaust - take a look under the rear of the car and you can see what is going on :)
Such a minor thing I know - but petrol is petrol and diesel is.....
 
Leasing - Diesel, it's a fair bit cheaper, and it's still OK performance.
Buying - Petrol, it's a nicer drive and due to the amount of diesels on lease, the petrol is likely to hold more value due to rarity.

I wouldn't spec any extras on a lease as it really does push the price up...

I know I was quoted 4 weeks for petrol and 12 for diesel when I ordered my diesel saloon on lease in May. Collected it 3 weeks ago and very happy with it.
VRS tdi in Metal Gray, also came with factory sat nav for free (and is latest MIB2 system due to build delay!)

just need to remember I don't have 300bhp and 4wd any more :(

Look a saloon diesel out today and was nice, although it felt a little bit sluggish compared to my C Class even though they have the same power. Certainly not as a refined ride but then that's to be expected.

Also took out a base model with the DSG box and was mighty impressed by the slickness of the change. Made my car feel crap in comparison. The shifts felt non existent even with some spirited driving.

Still not sure on how to finance it yet but due to the options I want I'd be wasting money on a lease. Spoke to broadspeed who quoted £4135 off list price but then I have over 3k of extras that I'd like. Namely paint, leather, upgraded sounds, sunroof and glass

Also not sure about the engine, the diesel does seem ample for my needs. I also think it' will be even better with the autobox. With the figures from RealMPG I'll be spending another £600 - £700 on fuel a year. Just don't want to regret the petrol when the shine has worn off the TSI lump and I'm left with what could be a rather more expensive commute if by job changes.
 
With the changes that will no doubt be coming in shortly to shaft diesel owners if your going new I'd go for the petrol.

When the time comes for me to order mine I'll be getting DSG with the petrol engine.

Tell them you aren't interested until you've driven a petrol and diesel in the trim level you want in both auto and manual. That's what I did when I went to look at the A3. Took them a few days but they found some.

I'll add, I drove both the manual and auto, ordered a manual and I've regretted it ever since.

I'm sold on the DSG after my test drive last night and I'm swayed towards the dirty diesel TBH.

Waiting for prices from the dealer and but looking at 17% off RRP but then I have 3k of options on there too. My trade in might be the sticking point as values have been all over the place.
