Sky F&F deal on again

Figured out the issue, guess they check surname with the address to determine if you are a n existing customer as using my wifes maiden name allows me to carry on with the order

Odd, I thought I was going to run into this issue as well but it took my name ok for the new sub, existing was in same surname, my wife's. I was expecting other things to flag as well such as phone number and bank account for direct debit but went though fine.

I guess I just got unlucky or perhaps not enough time had passed since canceling and signing up for the new deal.

Had a call from them today offering to reduce my bill for everything minus movies and sports to £40 or £53 inc movies. Not as good as the F&F deal but a little less hassle...tempted tempted!

When you phone up to cancel is there a cooling off period? Do they pretty much stop your service there and then or give you a date when it will end?

They give you a date and you can ring up and cancel the cancellation if you want. I did it on the day it was due to cancel once.

Might just do that then and see if they phone back with a decent offer. Phoned through to retentions and she only offered us 20% off the TV for 9 months!

That was all I got offered as well when I cancelled, they phoned back today and we had a nice chat about why I was leaving, I was checking around on prices, etc etc, then he offered the prices I said above.

Has anyone heard of the 25th birthday offer? 25 month contract at £25pm for all tv including HD, sports and movies? I would be very keen on a code for this if anyone has one. Cheers!

Misschief, can you help me out here please. I received the code but when I click on claim. I get this message:

Sorry, you're not eligible to receive a reward from Sky.

I am using my new account which has broadband only.

Might be best to phone then. It's probably picking up that you have some sort of active Sky service but it should still work and get you the discount.

I'd love to have this offer but as I have Cable internet with Virgin, I assume I can't if you have to take sky internet too? I also cancelled within 12 months. I guess my dad could sign up but as we all have the same surname, it would probably get flagged up too?

Well, I have an interesting tale regarding this...

MissChief very kindly sent me a code last week (thanks again, mate!) and I waited until my current subscription ran out (yesterday) before I signed up again in my wife's name in order to get the discount...

Anyway, on the website, I actually put my house number in the "house name" field as well as the address one, so it showed a double of my house number. Concerned, we phoned sky last night and explained the situation. The guy on the phone said it would be best to cancel the order and do a new one, but because we used the code already it was expired and he would need to raise a request for a new one. He promised to ring me back today.

Fast forward to 30 minutes ago, he rang back and explained he had a replacement code, but that it was a better offer. Basically he said Sky is 25 this year and he could offer me the full TV package (inc HD) for £25/month for 25 months!! We obviously jumped at that. So instead of the £33.65/month we got with the original code from MissChief, we got the same deal for nearly £10/month less!

The original installation date was set for the 19th am and the new one is 19th pm, so just as good really. Can't believe that my stupid mistake on the original order actually worked in my benefit!

G.
