Go to the cabinet outside your house, what number (if any) is etched on it?
And what cabinet number comes up on the BT checker?
The nearest "box" outside my house is 100m away in the opposite direction to the exchange? Would that do?
Did you use the postcode or address checker when you got that information as the postcode checker will never give you any information about fibre since it doesn't know what cabinet you're connected to where the address checker will.
Edit: Also on the original discussion, fibre speeds depend on the length of the line between you and the cabinet (like how ADSL speeds depend on the length of the line between you and the exchange) so if there's a fair length of cable between you and the cabinet then speeds will be affected (run the address checker again (or use your telephone number) and it should tell you what cabinet you're connected to so you can have a walk around to find it because the nearest box might not be the one you're connected to and it might be that your line was connected directly to the exchange which would mean that you wouldn't have been able to get fibre which has been rectified by having all the exchange lines wired to a cabinet outside the exchange which might explain the slower speeds it giving).

Do you know any of your immediate neighbour's telephone numbers? If you do then use them to get a speed estimate.
Your proably not connected to that cabinet, i live about 50 meters from my cabinet in a newer house, but people living just down the road in much older houses dont go to that cabinet, their lines all go to an older one at the other end of the village and they all get terrible internet speeds.
