Question for Misschielf:

any legitimacy to this deal?

Sky have cut the price of Q for customers with over 10 years service. You must phone for the offer, it is not available online.

The usual £99* smart features fee is waived meaning you only pay the £49 installation fee.

* Customers without Movies or Sport may have to pay more £249 but should be able to take advantage of current half price movies offer to then be eligible for discounted "Smart Services Fee and just £49 install. You should be able to cancel movies after a month.

Seems a bit out of order only branding people with 10+ years as loyal? I have been with Sky for 8+ years and moved it every time i have moved and yet don't get this offer.

I've just received an email offering this.

I see they've announced prices increases already, you have to laugh at this, farcical.

So all you new Sky Q subscribers, add another £2+ a month to you already stupidly high bill!

I've not received this mail yet, hope it get it soon, I have been with sky for almost 20 years and would think again about Q if this is real, at the moment there is not a hope of getting it at current prices.

Just got an email saying increase is £4 per month from 1st June 2016.

Also on the subject of 1080i on the Sky box. I have a BT box set to 1080p and a Sky HD box set to 1080i going through my Sony amp. No processing on the signal.

The HD picture from the BT box is noticeable better, sharper faces more defined than the Sky HD which is less detailed with faces looking a bit more as though they have had artifact smoothing on or some such.

Thank you for your upfront payment of £50.00.
This amount includes all payments you have made for any upfront fees, installation visit, broadband activation fees, or purchase of other accessories including delivery charges for set top boxes.

ok guys, currently I have everything with Sky, complete package, phone, broadband etc.

monthly= £123+

All the above Sky Q silver plus phone and broadband etc = £129.90, so only £6 odds over what I was paying and I know there is an increase on 1st June but that was coming anyway. Now the important bit, for Sky customers with 10+ years they wave an upfront charge of £99 but you still have to pay the installation charge of £50 upfront when you take the deal.

You can shave a few more quid if, like me, you have 'Sky Protect' insurance with Dom General and phone them to cancel. Now all the new equipment, except the dish, is rented to you by Sky so no need for insurance as sky will replace anything faulty. The dish however will need to be insured, so sky protect gave me £2.99 p/m for 10months and £5.69 for 14months (2yr deal). Previously I was £9.99p/m so all in I have Sky Q Silver and I am paying less than I was. I'm happy, so negotiate, maybe you can get better.

Engineers coming on 2nd April to install. Hope this helps some of you.

Loll at buying sky protect at any level in any situation :p

I wondered who fell for that one when I've been asked if I want it in the past.

FYI sky will come out and replace/repair in contract equipment for free for anyone, you just need to insist. I've had multiple callouts over the years for squiffy sky plus boxes and things over the years (I have had sky in my household for as long as I've ever lived away from my parents).

Edit in case that sounds rude: cancel that cover, it is a total waste of money and just preys on people who don't know better :)

Haha, sorry to laugh about it but I'd not heard of anyone on here going for it. Glad you are cancelling it now :)

I dont want sky Q silver..I thought they were going to release 2 versions

bog standard sky Q which is just a replacement for the sky+hd box and sky Q silver which came with the additional mini box?

surely thats why its called sky Q silver as its better than the base package..otherwise why not just call it sky Q?? why add silver to it if its not giving you more??!!

as an exisitng sky customer it seems i cant just get sqy Q, the website only gives me the option for sky q silver!? if I dont log into the website or tell it I am not an exisitng custome I can get the 44 pound base package, but as an existing customer it wont let me choose anything but silver
