*** Sky Q Thread ***

I'm guessing there is no stuttering on them?

None seen on mine so far.

My Sky Q install is on the 15th Sep, I'm just going to refuse to give wifi access and connect via ethernet anyway. Sky provides simple instructions for ethernet install...

Are you going to remove the WPS button on the router?

If you go ethernet for the Sky Mini boxes as well, be aware that you lose the wireless access point functionality of the Sky Mini boxes.

The wifi is locked down by mac address, so WPS button doesn't work.

I've got full house coverage including an additional wifi access point setup so don't need any more coverage :)

Anybody else having issues with their mini box? In the 17 days since I signed up mine must have crashed 10 times, including twice yesterday. Just phone Sky and they said they're aware of this problem and a software update is being released to fix it on the 15th but they're going to credit my account for the loss of service until then.

I posted this in another thread, but what power option have you got the Mini set to? The installer for mine on Monday specifically changed it from the default (I think it was Eco) to 'Active'. Perhaps they're aware of a problem and are setting it to active to counter it?

My Mini hasn't crashed once, but then i've only had it 3 days.

You will be glad to know I haven't had a crash on either type of box for 30 days or so now!

First time I have heard of a date given out for a software update for the general public so far in advance! I would take that date with a pinch of salt!

Trying to use Sky Go Extra and it's advising me I need to pay £5 a month, looks like i'm about to go through Baz's pain in getting it sorted out ... wish me luck.

Oh, and the only part of the package i'm not getting is Sky Cinema so figured i'd see how much it is to upgrade, this made me lol :p

It's already set to active. **** knows what the problem is.

I assume your box's are already updated?

As per my last post on the subject, you don't need to activate it - it's already included in your package and good to go. At least that's what they eventually told me after 10 calls, each time getting told something different. It was activating Sky Go Extra that cause my world of pain.

That's the problem it's not active for me, if I try to use it I'm told I have to upgrade for £5 a month.

...The 'mini' boxes we have have had some update last night as the previously listed sky movies is now showing as sky cinema.
