*** Sky Q Thread ***

I can confirm Sky Go Extra IS included with Sky Q if you have an extra Mini Box.

Thanks :) . I've had this confirmed through me sources too.

Anyone with the Sky Q Silver bundle or Sky Q Multiroom bundle DOES have Sky Go Extra included as standard.

If it is not, then please get in touch with Sky and they can resolve it. If the person you are speaking with doesn't know or is getting it wrong, please be nice, but insist that you speak to someone in the know (i.e. supervisor, manager).

It's included with the Silver bundle, you don't need to buy an additional (i.e. second) mini box.

The Q Silver bundle has one Q Mini, so it's included automatically. As you say, buying a 2nd Q Mini isn't the qualifying point, you already qualify.

Ok, I think everything has been resolved now. I received a text from Sky to say the matter has be solved so I check my account online and Sky Go Extra is now not even showing on my account at all! On the phone to Sky again and finally speak to somebody that actually knows what he's talking about - if you have Sky Q Silver then you don't need to activate Sky Go Extra, it's already included in the Silver bundle which is why it doesn't show up as another service. By activating Go Extra the other week it was adding something I already had and charging me for it.

Great! Hopefully anyone else who picks up this thread will also get a suitable answer now and your mistake won't be repeated.

Just been talking to sky according to the guy I spoke to communal dishes cant have sky q right now

Anyone know if I am being fobbed off

You're being fobbed off or they know something about your specific communal dish that we don't.

Yes Sky Q does work on a communal dish system, but it needs a suitable upgrade which has been available since summer 2015. This upgrade may or may not have been applied to your system.

If your communal dish needs to be upgraded, then the company who looks after it will need to either do it themselves or contact Sky for further advice.

Of course if the management company is refusing to get the upgrade completed, you'll first need to find out if it's going to cost them or if they are just being awkward. Sky has offered free upgrades in some cases.

Cheers. Not sure I made a mistake though. When I phoned Sky the first time to activate it the person I spoke to should have known that it didn't need activating and then we'd have avoided all this mess.

Had Sky Q installed today (silver 2tb + mini box) - it's awesome :-)

No, you can't have a wired connection from PC > Sky mini. The wireless is very good - I used to get intermittent connection at the bottom of my garden but now with the sky mini box 1/3rd of the way between the router acting as a hotspot I now get three bars and a solid 20 down / 20 up on my phone/tablet. I'm on fibre pro (so 76 down / 20 up) - PC's are all wired into the router - so I can't comment on gaming - but with those speeds it should be good as long as the connection is reliable, but the mini box has been streaming all day and I've not experienced on hiccup or glitched image.

Thanks mate.

Hi, I currently have 12 months left on a 50% off full package, not in a contract however. If I was to upgrade to Sky Q, would I need to pay £198 for Sky Q silver & 1 mini? and would my current monthly cost remain the same, albeit in a 12 month contract?

Thanks

Well I couldn't get them to budge on the £297 quoted for Silver + 2 mini's. Can't justify paying that sadly, hopefully there'll be better offers soon.

Same here, they will not budge no matter what. Or 200 notes with only 1 mini. Annoying as hell when others get it for £60 just by clicking on the website.

I've just taken out a Sky 12 months contract and I'm still considering Q. I pay £35 with multiroom per month and it would go up to £42 with a one off cost of £148 and get 1 extra mini box.

Hmmm

Had Sky Q installed earlier today, was very quick and straight forward.

Not a massive fan of the new remote, but I do like the new UI it's very sleek.

4K is obviously awesome and the Sky Mini has worked flawlessly thus far on wireless which surprises me.

Impressed so far!

I called Sky today stating an interest in upgrading to Sky Q but as per a few posts back, the existing discount is only applied for the time remaining (2 months in my case).
The offer of £44 a month would therefore rise to silly money meaning I have to go through all the end of contract nonsense yet again just to get a good deal.
