*** Sky Q Thread ***

Would you record cricket? As good as now tv with Apple TV is, that is the limiting factor.

Highlights and replays of sports are not always available straight away - presumably due to rights restrictions.
Years ago (pre-2020) we had Sky Q and would record the highlights in the evening and then watch them the following day. It would be good to be able to do that again as I can't always watch TV live as I'm busy with other things.

If it highlights NowTV have those typically after a terrestrial tv have shown their highlights.

I’ve had Now for 8 months with Apple TV and it’s been superb. As I’ve said numerous times I really wanted to like sky stream but for me, at least the reality was cheap and underpowered hardware with glitchy & laggy software.

I'll go with NowTV in that case. Thank you!

I'm in my first month of NowTV and cancelled the sub, it offered me a discounted amount for 6 months but for some reason I decided not to do it. Will I be offered if again at any point or will I need to do a full price month again?

How are people doing with renegotiations at the moment on Sky Q when your contract's coming to an end?

I've had the below offer, but I'm unsure whether I can do a bit better:
Signature - £28.50
Sports (inc HD) - £23
Cinema - £9
Ultra HD/HD - £7
Multiscreen - £10
Gigafast - £39

Total - £116.50

My offer was awful, I had to drop cinema for them to give me £20 off. Moved to NowTV instead. They haven't even tried to entice me back.

Struggling to get the Q deals of old. I cancelled Sky earlier in the year because we were selling our house, and the Sky offers on our subscription had expired. I would generally cancel Sky every 18/24 months when the offers expired and they'd soon contact me to provide me with a deal. This time, nothing through the letterbox, no phone calls. Nothing to try and tempt me back. We decided to take the house off the market, and I thought I'd see what Sky were offering. Actually, getting hold of someone to sell me the service was hard enough and then when I eventually got hold of someone, the offers were terrible. I even told them I still had the satellite, so no engineer was needed to visit, saving them some pennies. This was 2 weeks ago; even since then, there have been no calls to try to negotiate an offer.

Experienced the same. They are not interested in "Q" at all. Its all about stream and the fancy TV. (It`s not as good as Oled :D)
I don`t think it will be too long before Sky is internet/cable only. No dish services at all.
Everybody has an opinion on how expensive Sky is yada yada, but for myself and the family, the convenience is pretty tough to beat.

Wonder how much money they can save losing the need for satellites

Indeed. Offers on Q are terrible. My last deal was £79 for pretty much all add on channels, broadband and a mini box.

This time the best I could get it down to was £129.

Depending what you use it for buy an Apple TV and the relevant Now tv package, it’s what we’ve done. Far and away better experience than their stream **** and cheaper than Q. Of course you can’t record live sports stuff which is the only draw back I’ve found.

Using all the apps on my LG OLED instead of Sky Q, I save about 50 quid a month now with direct subs to NowTV, TNT and Netflix. We do miss recording stuff and having everything all in one place, it was much easier to find stuff to watch if you're a bit stuck but no way the experience is worth an extra 50 quid. Sky didn't even offer me anything when I cancelled and have not contacted me since.
