Sky sports free weekend

They do it periodically for all their premium channels, nothing to do with F1, but if they get more subs then win-win.

Wouldn't say it has nothing to do with the F1 but certainly it isn't the 'one and only' reason to why Sky are doing it, rather i suspect it's because there are a number of big sporting events occurring on the one weekend.

Either way, who cares why they are doing. I'm just going to enjoy being able to watch F1 live.

So they do it all the time but you can't remember when? me either and I have had Sky for a while.....not sure why you think promoting it on Sky Sports news is a sign of anything, you have to pay to get that channel? so it's a limited audience.

Last time they did free sports was the last weekend of Sept 2011.

No, I said they do it periodically. I can't remember when they last did it because I've never had to take up a free weekend, seeing as I've got the full pack. A simple Google would show you this is something they do though - PERIODICALLY.

It's part of the Entertainment Extra pack. Most "basic" Sky Subscribers probably plump for that pack. Not sure at what point you get it on Virgin. If you have Sky you are "paying" to a certain degree whatever you watch, so not sure what your point is.

And anyway, Sports News...might possibly have sports fans watching it...might include some F1 fans who don't have an F1 sub? If they were desperate as you claim, that's where I'd start advertising it, especially during a segment on F1.

If you don't think this weekend being free is about F1 then fine let's just leave it at that. But ask yourself why Sky are promoting the free weekend with F1 as top billing of what you can see...

Because it happens to be the biggest sporting event on this particular weekend? Like I said, good timing - not desperate like you seem to want to think.

You really are an argumentative person just for the sake of it aren't you?

Says the guy who argued his point for the sake of it :p you took issue with my opinion, not the other way round, but turn it around onto me if you really feel such a need.

But as usual for this section any debate is considered bad.....if you think Sky are not desperate to keep people subscribed or get new subs then you really do not pay much attention :) Go phone them up and say you want to cancel, see how desperate they are to keep you.

Err, yeah. That's the same for pretty much any company then, "desperate" or not.

Can see now why so many folks on here "enjoy" you and your posts. Shame I won't see any more of them, I liked the Mr. Men as a child as well :)

And here comes Skeeter to mention his ignore list, must be the 30th time this week he has mentioned it....yawn. It's like he has a personal vendetta or something......haha

LOL, playground stuff, once again offering nothing to the thread.

Can I take this opportunity to ask people not to encourage the blocking of other users in their posts. It should be a personal choice and should not be influenced by others. It comes across as a personal attack and as per the forum rules will not be tolerated. Back on topic please.

You make it sound like this is unique to Sky.

Wasn't nitpicking, just saying that this is obviously what all service companies do.. you made it sound like Sky were desperate per se.

How many on here will be watching the Sky coverage for the first time?

Sky probably are quite desperate, they seem to have invested a huge amount in this.

Considering the cost, I personally find the Sky coverage to be shockingly poor.

I've had a similar type of thing happen as happened with my view on the Chris Moyles show.

I used to listen to him every morning thinking he was great. I now don't drive to work so don't listen to him, and then when I do occasionally hear him I think "why the hell did I used to like this?".

Having spent half a season watching Sky, I find the BBC coverage to be very dumbed down and childish.

Thats not to say the Sky coverage is without fault. Simon and Georgie are unbelievably ****.
