Sky TV (Offers and Advice)

Amazing, worked perfect.

Tunney, I just been on live chat again and got them to knock money off this month and now its down to £68.69 a month. They have confirmed again that when my broadband and line goes active it will go down to the original price of £60.

Im moving into a new flat this weekend and I'm thinking about sky for the Internet and TV. Are there any deals i should be taking advantage of?

Also how long does it usually take to get connected? I believe the previous tenant was with sky.

Bit of advice if I can.

Sky turned up but couldn't do the install due to lack of signal (trees in way not on my land). They just went and told me a second engineer would come, but they never showed. Ive had no phone call to tell me what happens next.

Had a leaflet through today from rf digital systems saying give them a call for custom installs.

Anyone had this problem?

Guess I can kiss goodbye to sky !

Just to give an update: Got through to someone competent at Sky today. As Biz.Kid09 said, Sky's system throws a wobbler when bills are sent out before both TV and broadband have been activated. As a result, I'm paying £90 this month, £30 next month and then it'll settle down to £60 a month.

Apparently you can see upcoming bills under the 'Future costs' title in the billing section of Sky's website. Very handy!

I cancelled Sky recently in favour of TiVo... I'll be going back to Sky.

Can I get an offer if I sign up new customer in wife's name instead of mine which it was previously?

I've had a bit of a nightmare myself, number hasn't traNsferred so now trying to sort through everyone who has the old number to give them the new one. Spoke to sky and they basically won't do anything for me, managed to get them to clear the first bill and give me discount on multi room and line rentals.

Tried to be clever with changing contracts etc but it's backfired a bit.. Oh we.

It took me all of 5 mins to cancel sky over the phone. Were moving house (told them having a house built so living with family but will be back).

Our equipment needs replacing so thoughts are sign up in the other half's name

We are after the full tv package films sports (F1) HD and multiroom with the latest boxes x2 The new house is currently a Virgin customer so will be keeping their broadband

What are my options

After cancelling, how long does it typically take before Sky generally ring to make discount offers (assuming they do ring)?

I cancelled and went over to VM. The TV with them was so poor, I was on the phone to Sky after a fortnight.

I told them I was interested in any incentive available to return, as I had spoken to a friend at the weekend who said they had gotten a great deal to go back. I did not elaborate on said great deal.

I was then asked if I could simply plug in my existing box and go, as in did I still have the box available. I answered yes, and was offered any package half price for 12 months with no contract, i.e. I can provide 31 days notice at any time. Anything I add to the package over the 12 month period will be half price for the remainder.

Currently have the Family package @ £18 / month.

Just looking at the current sky offer.
25% off The Variety Bundle for 12 months
£75 bill credit
£120 cashback quidco

So £75 for a year!

Is there anything better at the moment? Looking to leave BT very soon. . . . IE TODAY.

I am not a returning customer though. Never been with Sky before. Might get a better package by phoning but I would lose the £120 quidco so making it much more expensive. Wasn't sure if the couple of ocuk forum members who work at sky are online with their current offers :-)

My apologies.

From my recent experience, Sky appear to be haemorrhaging customers due to losing the UCL so I'm sure you'll get a good deal if you give them a phone.

Going to cancel our HD and movies and the latter is just repeats and tbh the former doesn't bother me either, that charge should have been scrapped long ago, I guess they just milking people like they did with the + service.

Might try an alternative for movies like Amazon

I would go the broadband route for an even better deal, but I am tied to BT until June for phone and broadband.

Currently debating the Family Bundle
25% off so £27 a month
£75 bill credit
£120 cashback
HD and 3D included

It was about 5 days after. I logged into the "sky service" app and it offered me 35% off then a few days later a 50% off came through the door.

No sure I can take the 50% as we have now moved out so need a new dish etc.

Edit. My 50% off actually came through via email.

Anyone have any advice for someone wanting to leave Virgin?

Would want TV with sports and a phone package with overseas calls (no broadband). As a new customer does ringing them up and asking for their best price to beat Virgin ever produce any results?

[Edit] I was with Sky several years ago, dont know if that changes anything.

[Edit2] Seems there's a 50% off code for the whole 12 month contract. I cant get The Original Bundle, Sports, Unlimited Fibre, Talk International Extra for £61 p/m. Sounds pretty good to me, although the broadband is a good deal slower than Virgin. Anyone know if i could also get Quidco cashback as a returning customer and with this deal?
