** SKYLAKE NOW AVAILABLE & IN STOCK!! **

Must admit I rarely ever shop with OCUK anymore, this may be the final nail in the coffin, wasn't buying anyway but trying to milk £60 out of people early?

Prices are hit and miss but the customer service is very good ;) I got a 980ti from another retailer, day after the nvidia MGS promo gets released. They wouldn't give me a code, had it been here I would have got a code I'm sure of it.

LOL £320, £30 more than a 5820K for less performance. Absolutely terrible value for money. Seem to be around £290 in other placess.
can't believe someone in this thread actually bought one over a 5820K, must be a nutter.

I've had no issues with the other select retailers I use. Customer service or not I wouldn't pay £60 extra.

Early gouging or not, these are expensive. I paid £239.99 Inc VAT on launch day for my 4770K.

Between skylake and the 5820K the X99 setup is a no-brainer.

because its better value for money.

It's not just better value for money, it's the better platform.

It's cheaper and has more processing power. I don't understand the pricing on the 6700k. Unless there is some platform specific thing that it has that makes it stand out from the crowd.

It seems wrong to buy a 4 core 8 thread cpu for more than a 6 core 12 thread cpu for less.

Going X99 with maybe those TeamGroup kits. Does anyone have a picture of what they look like?

It's either those or the Panram, and I don't fancy paying the extra for the same specs (maybe a bit less latency from what I can see?)

Edit: They look like this from the top down apparently, which looks quite slick for a black/white build like myself.

And I am not too sure what the hotlinking rule is here? Am I allowed to link images or not?

is this the way to go, its same price as what the skylake build would be !

Intel 5820K 3.30GHz (Haswell-E) Socket LGA2011-V3 Processor - Retail (BX80648I75820K)

Gigabyte X99-SLI Intel X99 (Socket 2011) DDR4 ATX Motherboard

Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 PC4-24000C15 3000MHz Dual Channel Kit - Black (CMK16GX4M2B3000C15)

is quad channel for ram better on these ? also what overlock i could expect on stock voltage just want an idea

Thanks

You need quad channel so 4 x 4gb. DDR2666 or 2400 is fine.
1.2v 4.1-4.2 Core very easy. 3.5 Cache with 1.2 Cache volts. Done.

I have been saying that Skylake will be the point at which I upgrade ever since I bought into Sandybridge, but now it is actually here, I think I can wait a little longer. :p

Very telling that the initial post lists x99 processors alongside skylake. Nothing much to see here small ipc improvements with the usual boost in integrated graphics that very few on this forum will care for. Very real chance that a cheaper six core twelve thread x99 chip will ultimately prove to be a better buy with more platform longevity

I am quite confused tbh for years now these chips the 2600k the 3770k the 4770k have all come out at around the 280 pound mark now all of a sudden the next one in the line is 320 and it has had its cooler removed so that should have dropped the price a few quid atleast, i get that with dx12 you will be able to combine your gpu with the onboard gpu and this will give you a nice boost (aslong as it works :P ) but i really fail to see what justify's a price hike.

o and the current price in dollars is 350 (so about 225 pounds) so with vat and a mark up it would be sitting at the usual price of 280 pounds seeming the product is lighter and smaller to ship (aka you can ship more for the same money) what is adding 95 pounds overall to the cost of this product? (please note this is a general thing and not just ocuk) it just seems like there is somthing very dodgy going on.

Same here looking at numbers seems ill keep my x79 a while longer or until it self combusts lol :p
