Skyrim + ENB - Graphics Card Thread

Why the new thread anyway Neil? Huge thread in PC Games section... started by you :).

Lots of posts in it about ENB, a few by me on performance of ENB with my GTX970.

Main trick is to turn your shadow settings way down as ENB draws it's own shadows (assuming you have detailed shadows on, which most ENBs do).

Mine:

Skyrim.ini:
iShadowMapResolutionPrimary=1024

SkyrimPrefs.ini:
fShadowDistance=4000.0000
iShadowMapResolutionSecondary=1024
iShadowMapResolutionPrimary=1024
iShadowMapResolution=1024

Also the [Memory] settings in enblocal.ini have a large impact.

I knew I'd get that :)

Basically its a graphics card only related thread for Skyrim, people have generally been asking through the months about frame rates and ENB's. This would be more suited to it.

Without wanting to go too off topic what sort of settings do you change increase performance? I always turn off Depth of Field and Ambient Occlusion but for a lot of ENB's its still not enough.

I will have a look for you as I cannot remember everything I did. I know that skylighting was another thing I turned off along with the water settings as pure waters handled water for me.

When you launch Skyrim, do you get some text along the lines of "ENB Series... blaaa" in the top left of the screen?

Havnt seen anything like that, I dont think its running either now as trying a few other save points doesnt look much different.

sorry for the small screenys, I shrunk the originals down to 25% because I got cussed at by a moderator in another post for Firestrike bench images too large ( over 1240).

I think I need to completely reinstall the actual game & start installing ENB from scratch, it did moan a couple times about file locations when installing, My copy is in a steam directory on a old drive & my settings are on another drive again.

Thanks for the thread rename!

Hopefully we see some good impressions from those with 970's, 980's, 780TI's and the like ;)

Ok, got it all working as per Instructions + extras I feel a bit of a Noob numpty now as originally missed the "Copy d3d9.dll AND enbhost.exe from the wrapper" step :confused: But anyhow got it working with all the bells, whistles & the extra Mods I needed for my save games ( Immersive armours, weapons, spells overhaul + a few other nice extras).

Over all, Huge perfomance hit, Pre ENB things were running around the 250-350 FPS mark on a standard skyrim with no extras, after it was about 90-150 Inside, 55-90 FPS outside.

IMO perfectly playable looking stunning on a GTX980 & a 1920x1200 res, anything higher, I think youd get bogged down on laggy bits, I was running the 980 strix with these settings

Thanks for the ENB tipoff BTW, If I hadnt have seen this post I dont think I'd have known about it & missed out of a really nice looking game upgrade :cool:

I Have to say its a Pig to install all the extra's! First attempt I blasted through them all one by one & Skyrim crashed every time on loading up.
Wiped it all & restarted installing afresh a 2nd time, & did a loading test after each non basic texture swap mod addon, bombed out on my extras equipment mods right at the end
3rd wipe & re attempt I picked the order of my extras a little better & all the mods took ok.

you need to be carefull with some of the extra ENB versions of things & compatability patches from other mods.

took about 6 hours to get it working in the end!

You need more texture mods in there, basically try to murder your GPU with lots of awesome textures and high ENB's. :D:p

RealVision knocks FPS down like no tomorrow, add some water mods in and some sun-scattering ENB for that and it'll drop a little more.

With 90-110 mods I get 50FPS+ which is good for SLI 680's.

However, looking at upgrading to 970's looking at the replies in here for some added VRAM and performance.

How are you getting away with anything over 60fps (not using vsync) and not seeing physics do crazy things?

Pass, havn't changed anything specific, its just worked fine for me. It glitched out on me on the intro startup on a brand new game when I first initially reinstalled it, turned vsync on, fixed it, I then turned it back off once I got "free roam" after the intro Helgan sequence & its been fine ever since, hasnt glitched out once loading from a save game a few levels in doing my own thing.

This is what I added on after reaper

Played a couple hours this evening, dont think I saw the frame rate ever drop under 55, 90% of the time outdoors its around 60-75, enter a interior area pretty much always over 90 no mater what lighting/water/fire was in there.

As far as anyone is aware, it is not publicly known.

People have guessed Enhanced Natural Bloom but Boris Voronstov is Russian so an English acronym might be well off.

I'm sort of obsessed with skyrim ENB and modding it. So much so it's the most hours I have logged in any game ever (quite an embarrassing amount) and I think I'm only about one fifth into the game.

I just spend all my time wandering around and tweaking the settings and then maybe getting distracted and doing the odd side mission.
