Skyrim + ENB - Graphics Card Thread

Think I'll save up for a 980x, 970 is nice but I'm always buying mid range cards, like the 280x to the 290 etc

It was a decision I deliberated for ages too, I planned a new VGA card back in May when I rebuilt the the rig & decided back then to blow my budget on EOL tuned to its back teeth x79 (after years of having its bugs ironed out), rather than wait on the new x99 & 2011v3 cpu's & early DDR4 and sort out a really solid guts. I had spent years limping along on a old original Asus Crosshair mobo & majorly bottlenecked ddr2 with a whole slew of midrange cards (last 2 vga upgrades gained me little to nothing at all over the previous card). Right back then I was undecided on 1 or 2 970's or a 980 at a later date when I could afford it, The fact I was also waiting for a decent 34" 3440x1440 ultrawide monitor to come out to replace the 2x 24" 1920x1200's I use rather than go for a true 4K swayed me to go for the single 980 & see if I can get away with just one card. Monitor is my next purchase as its not really useable to twin screen games because of the bezel gap, only one I can really do it with is EvE Online (that now runs at a ludicrus 550 FPS in a window over both screens, total overkill )

In the end I was very glad I waited for the card I REALLY wanted even after the normal 980's came out, the single card bench scores I got were outstanding http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18629665 2nd place still

I've been wondering about trying an enb for a while but from the above I guess my lightly oc'ed 7970 would struggle at 1080p?

Struggle for me is less than 40fps.

I have a 280x overclocked 1100/1500 and I've seen it struggle with an ENB, great other wise though

I'm able to get 45-55fps out of RealVision ENB Full with DoF and AO turned off and reduced shadow quality. And thats with a Flora Overhaul and a butt ton of 2k and 4k texture mods.

My biggest tip would be to use Grass on Steroids and set iMinGrassSize to 75. Although bear in mind my screen is only 1680x1050 so your mileage may vary.

I did alright with an OC'd 7970 running ENB and god knows what other stuff. Not awesome fps figures in some areas, but plenty playable.

A lot of people just install too many grass mods and unless you run a sensible imingrasssize= value it can absolutely kill your FPS.

Never have an issue outside it's just two villages with ENB's

Because I notice any drops below 50 I don't like it, would be fine with Adaptive Vsync but only Nvidia has that, AMD has Radeon Pro + Dynamic Vsync and it sucks

Well I got my 970 installed. Now my Skyrim with ENB and many texture mods runs smooth!

Last time I checked/tried, Skyrim with xfire is a pain to get working and when you do get past the fiddling, it usually has issues like grey faces for example.
Ask TonyTurbo, he's the man to consult. Maybe he's managed to sort it out.

Personally, I'd say to just OC and run a single card on this one.

Yeh I've read issues from the older drivers, but I thought that was sorted?

Yeah I'll have to look at the FPS and get some screenies. I don't know if I can promise 60fps, but we will see. Hopefully I'll have some more time tonight. All I know at the moment is that it went from stuttery to smooooth!

I don't have any issues getting 60fps with realvision and around 170 mods. I do use grass on steroids but 2k or 4k textures for rocks, trees etc. I've somehow got my crossfire working flawlessly and DOF working correctly as well where others have had no success.

Thought as much Tony Seems the drivers have really matured as have the ENB's and crossfire.. Well I'm on the hunt for another 280x then

Didn't think that anyway But crossfire with other games + profiles would be a bonus too

Honestly guys, I spent weeks and weeks juggling enb, profiles, merging other enb files namely sharpshooters enb with realvision to correct the DOF, I'd have no idea what to actually tell anyone. I spent around 2 or 3 nights trying to track my steps for matson to get his 7950's working like mine, in the end I just couldn't remember. There is something I've accidently done where I'm getting 90% usage on both cards, perfect DOF and solid 60fps absolutely everywhere.
