Sleep problems

I am having real issues with sleep atm. For quite a while now, no matter how much sleep I get I always wake up very VERY tired and it's a real task to drag myself out of bed. I sleep right through the night and since I finished my course at College mid-June I've been sleeping right through to Noon although I find it extremely hard to get to sleep before 2am no matter what I do.

I have tried relaxing with a bath before bed, reading, listening to music... nothing works.

I was thinking of trying sleeping tablets but I'm not sure if that will help.

Anyone else have the same problem?

Do more things during the day - get outside, do sport, go swimming.

What I found helps wake me up in the morning is if i leave me curtains open at night, when the sun comes up in the morning my room is already light so it's harder to stay in bed.

Try getting out and doing something with your days that will tire you out then set a few alarms to get you up around 9ish for a few days and go to bed earlish after a week of doing that your body should be setteled into a better sleep routine

Examine your lifestyle, diet and daily 'timetable' then speak to a GP. Being tired can be the result of many things and some of those you decide and others your body dictates.

Are you sleeping too long?

i read somewhere (i think) that oversleeping makes you feel tired and lazy, and as if your not getting enoguh sleep when your actually getting more than you need.

Doctors for a quick blood test tbh.

I am doing the same and was told a few weeks ago that my thyroid level is low. Going for another test to see if it's a one-off or consistent.

Go to your doctor. They're paid to give you clinically accurate advice. Do not ask a computer forum for their experiences, this is your health at stake!

edit : didn't want to mention thyroid but someone else has. Go to your GP if you're even slightly concerned about this (as opposed to just being mildly curious).

??? Just sounds like your sleeping pattern is a little off, that's all. No big deal.

Just try and stay up all night one night then go to bed around 6pm the following day.

Does Diabetes affect this sort of thing? My Dad has it and I haven't been for a check up in over 10 years.

Diabetes has an impact on how and when you sleep, yes. I won't post any more in this thread because I'm already boring myself saying the same thing but OP, do yourself a favour and go to your GP. You're either well and can work on how to sleep better or you're not well and need some clinical advice.

Best of luck :)

Dude, you're sleeping around 10 hours which is too much, and you're not going to bed until 2am, waking up at 12am or later, that is your problem. It's not good. Stop looking for causes elsewhere without sorting this out first.

Lethargicness in young people is usually caused by crap diets, not enough exercise and not enough activity. Sitting on a computer all day only adds to it. This might not necessarily be the case here but it is most of the time.

Cut down on the coke. It really isn't good for you. Eat large, proper meals, not just that molten ***** from an Iceland box, never go to bed hungry, eat plenty of fibre and always drink plenty of water.

You just wait till you're old and decrepid like me, with a few slipped discs in your back. Then you have sleeping problems.
