Sleep walking / talking etc

I think it must run in my family.

- Years ago whilst sharing a room with my younger brother, he woke me by speaking quite loudly in German. It went on for a couple of minutes and I had no idea what he was saying.

- I got up in the night, got dressed into my school clothes and then got back into bed.

- Woke up and got out of bed, walked into bedroom door, got back into bed. Had a nice lump on my forehead in the morning.

- One night, my sister-in-law woke to find her husband (my older brother) standing on the bed pretending to surf! He's never actually surfed whilst awake.

- I think my older brother also went through a patch of regular sleep talking.

Finally, a topic I can relate to. I suffer from Night Terrors (Violent Case of Sleep Walking)

I've done some STUPID things in my sleep, and some very dangerous, some which could have REALLY hurt my family.....

I've been to 4 different sleep clinics, I've had CT scans, etc etc :(

I've sat bolt upright at one party when we were all beginning to fall asleep, although some people were still up to recount the tale, and shouted "IT'S PIMMS O'CLOCK", then fell back down snoring.

Also did the same, but said "****, ****, balls, ****"
(3 different swear words. They made no sense).

I had no recollection in the morning.

did anything ever help at all?
i'm really considering going to a sleep clinic..

i didn't want to mention it, but it's gone to a new level - one night last week, i pee'd in my wellington boot.

lol @ sleep sex

Sometimes I used to wake up in the night with my ex telling me off for trying to hump her in the night.

When younger I asked my dad for water in my sleep.

My mum asked my dad to make her a coffee in the middle of the night and he did.

My dad was talking about pigeons on the roof lol

My brother once walked down stairs into my mum and dads room and pee'd up the radiator lol

LOL....nice 1....

They just gave me some medication, which really helped, BUT you wake up with a hang over feeling and it is nearly IMPOSSIBLE to wake you up...

I'm not a violent person, but in the space of 2 weeks, I did the following:

> Strangled my wife to a point she had brusing on her neck
> Gave her a black eye
> Bust her lip
> Smashed a hole thru our wall, which is quite hard
> Went into my son's room and opened his windows fully when it was windy and raining and then locked the door on him
> Went into my baby's room and started smacking the door which scared him a lot
> Fell down some stairs

Sleep clinics dont tell you much. the first 1 I went to, they had a big microphone BOLTED to the wall and a camera above your head and a head rate monitor strapped to your finger. I snapped the wire on the heart rate thing and RIPPED the microphone off the wall. I woke up in the morning to find the microphone at the side of me.

The doctors were shocked
They didn't check on me once the first time, so if you do go, make sure you ask them to keep checking up on you every hour.

You are my bloody hero.

But i can see myself heading in your direction! Though i do find i can kind of control it by not drinking alcohol, eating chocolate and cheese before sleep, and not smoking before sleep.

I've tested the above.
I'm yet to test what i'd do if i drank lots, ate lots and smoked lots before bed.

Perhaps a rampage/massacre? Perhaps build a new village in my sleep?

wordy was he kicked out for sleep walking i could imagine its not a very good trait to have in the forces unless he's super human i mean your all dozing away he sleep walks into enemy camp kills everyone then comes back and gets into bed job done.

He got through basic training fine, from what I remember he was going to be aircraft mechanic so wouldn't wouldn't be going anywhere near a ship for a few years anyway.

I've tried everything to see if it has an effect and it doesnt....I've smoke a lot of fags, still happens, smoked no fags, still happens.
I've not eaten all day and eaten loads on another and still happens.

I dont drink so this wouldn't effect me.

It's come to a point where I think well why bother? It's something which hasn't got a permanent cure so i just have to live with it. My wife knows how to calm me down so i'm safer around her now, but i still fear for my kids because my youngest is only 9 months old and he cant defend himself if i ever flipped out at him :(

i used to sleepwalk quite a lot when i was younger, especially if something had changed like i moved the furniture in my room around, no reports of it happening for a good few years though, still occaisionally talk, although not as bad as my gf, she talks most nights, although strangely it seems to normally be when she's talking to me in her dream that she talks out loud.

my ex used to have what i thought were called night terrors but dont match up with the above mention of them, where she'd have an intense nightmare and be properly screaming, the loudest most horrible screams i've ever heard, and i'd wake her up or she'd wake herself up and have absolutely no idea what had been happening, think it had more effect on me than it did her

yeah, i do that as well, proper shouting and screaming, scared the hell out of my missus for a year.

after that, she got used to them!
crazy woman.

Someone who suffers from Night Terrors wake up screaming, sweating, heart racing fast, shaking, yet cant remember a thing. My son has got it who is 4yrs old and he wakes up EVERY NIGHT, pillow absolutly dripping wet and his head is soaking :(

I have woke up on several occasions after a bad nightmare, where for about 2-3 hrs after i've woke up, i still thought it was real. which has caused loads of problems....When my wife was pregnant with our second child, i dreamt the baby was left in a room on his own and was screaming, i got up, was fully awake but it didnt register to me that it was a nightmare and for an hour i was panicing trying to find this baby everywhere. Even now, i'll wake up from a nightmare and still think it's real. I dreamt that my wife had left me and when i woke up, i didnt speak to her all morning because i thought she had left me. weird i know but it takes a few hours before my mind settles down after a nightmare.

Some doctors say that night terrors and things of a violent nature while asleep can be a cause of a brain tumor so i had to worry for 2months for my CT scan, but came back normal which was a relief.

There is a forum for this kinda thing if your interested in finding out more...

I grind my teeth and sometimes cry out in my sleep.

I've always assumed it's because I was a long time ago diagnosed to have phsycotic depression and very occasionally now get minor episodes of it, probably because the amount of drugs I used to take and all the drinking I used to do.

Used to have Night Terrors as a child bad, screaming and taking my mum hours to calm me down still thinking it was real, Now I dont dream at all, but apparently talk and twitch a lot in my sleep lol.

Have been known to talk in my sleep. In general apparently I talk about finding places to hide weaponary and guns. I then procede to suggest places where I could hide them. Too much counter strike methinks
