Why is it so difficult to attain!? :(

It doesn't help that it seems to be the start of term tomorrow so everyone is back in halls again. Some fat loud bloke and his friend on one side talking loud enough to wake the dead and on the other side some girl giggling... Am I the only person that has to actually get up in the morning!

Tbh though I probably still wouldn't be asleep even without all the noise going on, stupid brain working overtime. Anyone else get that, feel tired so go to bed then as soon as ur head hits the pillow you're wide awake. It's by far the worst time of the day, where all those things you keep locked at the back of your mind come out to play...

You haven't drunk enough.

That didn't work last night so it probably wouldn't work tonight!

At least the noise seems to have stopped, just need to stop thinking now and I may get 5 hours sleep...

I don't sleep well at all, I haven't for years. Last night for example I went to bed at 10.30, didn't feel tired until about 12, slept for 30 mins, woke up at 1 a.m. Then didn't get to sleep properly until 3 a.m. Woke up once more randomly after that and then up at 6.30 feeling knackered.

I was so tired last night (for once!) that I went to bed at 10. Of course what happens then is that I wake up 2 hours later and can't go back to sleep.

I've never slept much though :)

Well I struggle to get to sleep until half 12, 1, then I wake up at 3am because im cold, then I get woken up again at 4:30 because my brother is going to work, then I have to wake up at 6:05

Sucks :(

I did have a nice sleep on Sat night though, wasnt doing much and just fell asleep at 8pm, didnt wake up until around 11ish on Sunday morning

I fall asleep within 10 minutes of going to bed and wake up 5 minutes before my alarm clock every morning.

I think the key is thinking, 'does it actually matter if I get a bad nights sleep?', in reality the answer is 'no' as the worst case outcome is that you're a bit tired the next day. Once you get over the 'MUST GET TO SLEEP' thing you can just lie down, relax and sleep might, or might not, come to you. Either way you'll probably get more actual rest.

I didn't get any sleep at all last night, I'm actually glad in a way since if I'd fallen asleep for only a couple of hours I'd probably feel worse.

I don’t have a problem dropping off to sleep unless I’m traveling and there is some noise. Earplugs sort that one out.

As to the OP it’s probably because he has been on holiday, he’s switched his hours and goes to bed at some ridiculously late hour. Always happens when it's time to go back to work/college after a good break. It will pass.

Something like that with me. Even on a good night two hours of getting bored in bed is considered good, then because these halls are so hot I only sleep with a sheet on, which means at 5am I wake up and have to put a duvet on...

Ear plugs.

Pray tell how I hear my alarm in the morning?:p

Nah, he's just one of those noisy people that doesn't actually realise how noisy he is. He never seems to go to uni (or at least I don't see him when I'm getting ready at 9am and he's already home when I get in at 5) so probably doesn't need to go to bed as early. Either way if the stupid building regs were changed to force proper walls instead of a couple of plasterboard panels I wouldn't have such a problem. Feel bad blaming him because he's not being that noisy, just he may as well be in my room...

As someone who has really struggled with sleep, I can definitely relate to what some people are suggesting in this thread. Don't force yourself to sleep - it doesn't work.

People say crap like, "don't watch tv/listen to music/listen to audiobooks etc etc etc", but in the end, if it helps you sleep or if you nod off doing it - then do it.

I think too much. About insignificant things. Been a problem since I was a teenager.

Sleep is a bizarre thing sometimes.
