Sleep...

Sleep in the recovery position on your right hand side but place your right hand under your head. It should work and keep your left hand on the bed or wherever.

That's actually what I do from time to time but normally I can only ever fall asleep while laying face down on the bed.

I'm currently on break from uni and sleeping about 12 hours a night average , went for 18 hour sleep yesterday, my trouble is getting up, dreading uni again next week with 9 am start.

I've found my change of job has effected my sleep somewhat.

Used to get up at 7 and be in the office for 9
Now I'm up at 6 and be in the office for 8.

I normally go to bed between 11-12. With my first job I used to be so lethargic all the time, and it was a job I hated.

I really enjoy my new job and even though I have to get up earlier, I'm far more refreshed during and after the working day, It seems being happy about my job is effecting my energy and enthusiasm for the day.I used to need about 8-9 hours sleep, now I can get by with about 7.

As for earplugs and alarms, my alarm is quieter than the bloke talking normally so it almost certainly won't help. :)

Best investment I've made while at uni was a bag of earplugs off ebay for about a fiver. I'm like you, have to sleep in the 12-8 range for my "body to be happy" and I also have lectures at 9 most days. The earplugs I find don't tend to block out higher frequencies, e.g. alarms, or lower frequencies, e.g. bass, doors slamming, but does work very well for people talking and taking out most of the noise.

1st term at uni drove me to insanity with so little sleep, after having got earplugs been sleeping much better over the years.

I rarely sleep well, it takes me a good hour if not more to get to sleep at night and then I'll only sleep 5 or so hours before waking up at 5-6am in the morning.

do you sleep with the curtains open, as I've always found a pitch black room easier to sleep in, rather than one letting in some light. +1 on the ticking clocks, drives me insane when trying to sleep, atm I'm struggling with a lack of sleep, the simplynoise seems an idea, will try and see.

I find it really easy to get to sleep, but most of the time I stay up too late to get enough!

I sleep well, but struggle to get to sleep. I'm forcing myself to go to sleep early tonight so have just taken a sleeping tablet, need to get the body into a routine of waking up at 7am.

I never used to be able to sleep listening to music but I can now, helps drown out noisy ****s around me, can't always sleep to music but there's a 50/50 chance and I'd rather listen to that than some drunk fool.

I'm getting 3-4 hours lately when really I need 8-9.
Really struggling to get through the day without falling asleep.
On the plus side - I'm too tired to get annoyed with anyone.

On the subject of sleep, I cannot sleep with a "ticking" clock in the room. It drives me to insanity!

All ticking objects must be removed before I'll even consider sleeping in them, worst thing ever!

OP, if you can't sleep, do more exercise during the day, that'll tire you out.

And here we go again

I swear I'm clucking through the night, this forum is not good for my health :/ if I can't sleep I'll keep checking up on you guys:p

Can't sleep if I drink caffeine after 9pm, but if I observe this I sleep like a baby. Oh & gaming can make my brain a bit too active for sleep so I stop playing about an hour before bed.

Right, I have an exam at 9:30 tomorrow, don't really know anything for it, options are:

a) stay up, sniff pure coffee and revise
b) sleep and gamble on my (very limited) knowledge.

Thoughts / comments.

Sleeping isn't the issue. Most nights I can get off pretty quickly, in most circumstances (which sounds like I'm pretty privileged if this thread is anything to go by :p).

However, getting up is the stumbling block. I almost always sleep in past the time I want to get up, especially if I have no were to be. If I have somewhere to be I will more often than not get up, but I always push my luck with regards to being on time :(

Go to bed now and get some sleep, if you want to revise get up early and do it, but I wouldn't recommend this.

Or you could have revised and been prepared regardless, no?
