SLI/CF is microstutter an issue for you?

I may create a help me thread yes. Though i may just tag off of Moogley's lol.

Can someone please do me a favour the next time they run Firestrike and make note of the VRAM usage. Mine jumps right up above 2Gb, which tbh, seems a bit high compared to what i'm seeing.

Had sli GTX460s a while back. Switched to a single 580. On an average fps basis it looked like it was going to be a side-grade, but in practice there was a huge difference.

It's very hard to say if it was microstuttering or sli drivers that are to blame, because it's virtually impossible to perceive the difference between microstuttering and just plain lack of horse power. One thing I will say, when performance is good on the single card, sli is simply stellar. On more demanding games, the sluggishness seems more apparent, almost like there's a relationship between the demands of the software and the degree of miss-timing in frame delivery.

Hmmmm, thanks, i'll check for this tonight.
Though i haven't got any issues at idle, but worth as shot anyway. Clutching at straws right now..

Something ain't right if you have 2gig of video memory usage running 3dmark.

Ah yes, that could be the case. Will test tonight and see.

The microstutter is one thing but the GPU usage drops tremendously on the second test and is up and down through Heaven. It's almost like one of the cards can't handle the task and is throwing it off. But, both cards are fine on their own..

Is it worth also changing the Crossfire Bridge?

I have just tried Heaven 4 on my GTX 690s @stock Quad sli

The top one is 1600p, the lower 1080p

The higher resolution seems to run worse

I can not get near my PC at the moment to try it but I think a single GTX 690 on its own would give worse results.

Getting a third GPU or limiting your maximum framerate are two solutions I've read about before for this.

The stutter is quite obvious when the frame time is vastly different from both GPUS so you must find a way to balance the time it takes each GPU to draw each frame.

It was an issue for me when I had SLI GTX 275, never did try getting a third card though....
