SLI not working

are we 100% sure the psu is upto scratch?
http://www.slizone.com/object/slizone_build_psu.html

otherwise I would maybe suspect the mobo

Well furmark and unigine work fine.Furmark is the most intensive benchmark i know of..atleast it heats my gpu up more than anything i know and that works with SLI fine.A burn in test for over an hour and no problems with stability..i very much doubt it is down to the PSU,and my fps nearly doubles.Plus i can see with the load graph it is working. As for the motherboard,it has crossed my mind but again it would seem strange that unigine and furmark all work fine yet games do not.

I know what you mean, most annoying is certain software working fine but not others, end of the day if you are certain somthing is wrong then the only surefire way is to test every individual component, a real hassle but what else is there?

PS you are adamant they arent working properly, have you actually taken a look at 260 sli benchmarks reviews for crysis and witcher?

Yes,and while the witcher is still not optimized the best for SLI.The crysis benchmark should be almost double ie i shouldn't be seeing 18 fps minimum...more like 25 or around about that when it comes to all settings at high and in windows xp(DX9).Again i can see via the nhancer SLI load graph that it is not working..... atleast as it should be when i compare to other things.

Cheers

Yes i understand that but i can get my cpu to 4ghz and the fps difference in crysis is not very much.Did you see the benchmark i posted? that is nowhere near what i should be getting even with my cpu at 3.16ghz.In any case i have tried everything i can think of now.Fed up installing operating systems, taking the pc apart, drivers, flashing bioses etc etc and getting nowhere. I just took the other gtx 260 out and will use just the one.If a new motherboard bios comes out in a few months time i will try again.

Cheers

Ok im putting it back in,i didn't go out and by a new Motherboard for nothing and i want to solve this problem!.Could someone please give me a list of possible reasons why furmark for example works fine yet games do not? What could cause this? when installing a new operating system i made sure to only install the bare minimum so i could rule out any conflicts.Look here for example with furmark 1.70 at 1920x1080

Without SLI

With SLI

?? Im at a loss why crysis won't work with any driver i have tried, the witcher aswell although i understand that is still not optimized the best with SLI.Both patched up...

Still having the same problem.I got my cpu up to 4ghz again to see if it would make a difference and it did but not by very much.I kept it at 3.16 as to not put more stress than needed on my PSU.One thing i noticed though is i get roughly the same average fps in crysis with 4XAA as i do without it.The minimum fps drops from 18 to 15 though. And as usual the sli load bar is very small.

Uk,scotland to be precise.Don't worry though,i will try some other things first of all...dont know what but i'll think of something! if furmark etc works but games don't i am sure the problem doesn't reside in the MB.I also checked that none of my gpu's are downclocking and thats not a problem either so im stumped.I will try a few other things or wait for another motherboard bios update.

Cheers

where in scotland as i am in west lothian if you need to check your cards in my 8xsli board! what fps are you getting in the crysis bench with 1680x1050 with 4xaa and dx9 and high? as this is my res!

Hello TK421,i live near Kilmarnock in Ayrshire.I would like to know why you think it could be a MB problem if you have any theories? I would have thought if it was a hardware problem SLI would not work at all.I have an update though. In my bios options i have to enable VGA compatibility or when windows loads it is just a blank screen.

Is this normal? look at this crysis benchmark with 8XAA

ok i have the 192 cards and this is the following results after several crysis benchies compared to you-
1920x1080

[email protected] stock - no AA - min- 22.56
max- 66.88
ave- 46.515

8xAA- min- 20.59
max- 69.04
ave- 45.935

[email protected] oc - no AA - min- 20.89
max- 91.64
ave- 60.495

8xAA- min- 31.06
max- 74.90
ave- 55.645

if you look at my stock results they are very similair to your results too.. very cpu limited with 8xaa and no aa. its only after the oc that you see the difference between 8xaa and no aa. hope this helps!

Are your results for high or for very high? They don't seem that far off if it's in high. Are your gtx 260's the 216 shaders core version also?

My gtx260's are the 216 version so my performance must be a lot lower than it should be.I just installed windows 7 again and still get bad performance...out of ideas.Just going to sell one of them i think, the performance increase is tiny in all of my games.Complete waste of money i don't have buying an SLI motherboard.Oh well.

Cheers

Have you checked the SLI option in the nvidia control panel. Mine was set to single card which apparently only uses the primary card until fully loaded then starts using the second card.
I read that it is better to have this option set to interlaced.

Only noticed on mine because one card was getting warmer than the other

Yes i have checked that...Like i said with furmark as you can see from the pics i posted SLI works fine. With games it does not.I have tried all the SLI performance levels aswell as nhancer.Still very bad results for my rig.
