Ryzen has a long way to go before I would even consider them. Buggy as hell motherboards, ram compatibility problems, lack of motherboard choices and the biggest one for me is that gaming performance just isn't up to scratch.
history repeats itself, you could be describing the 2011 launch of the Intel 6 core chips on the X79 and X99 platform. Based on what I am reading AMD have done a far better job than Intel and its partners did with their enthusiast line.
I have a pile of ASUS X79 boards as testimony and don't talk to EVGA X79 or X99 motherboard owners about their experiences as they are probably mentally scarred by the experience.
selection is a problem though, I think the partners significantly underestimated Ryzen popularity and I would be stunned if that was not fixed by the end of the year.
