Slow system after change to SSD

Got one of the 256GB Crucial V4's for £99 (Thanks OCUK!) and am using it as my sole drive, and a friend did a bit of work on a new install for me.

Changed to 64bit 7 from 32bit so a clean install, hardly any software and for some reason my system is super slow, especially any multi-tasking.

Drive is set to AHCI in BIOS.

Also had to change the wireless card I'm using from Abit Airpace to TP Link 881, which seems far slower even though its N as oppose to G.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I was hoping for a super fast system and seem to have gone back a step. Very close to ordering an F3, hehe.

Cheers in advance for any help.

any firmware updates?
also what controller is it plugged in?

just going thru the obv questions^^

I'm not sure if the old mechanical drive was a slave during install or just connected after the install, however, it is totally disconnected currently.

Ran a CrystalDisk test and got this:

rystalDiskMark 3.0.1 x64 (C) 2007-2010 hiyohiyo

Seems similar to other posts complaining of same thing with same drive.

how slow are we talking here tho
like unstable slow? slower than the spinny drive?
or just slow for a ssd?

Slower than an old WD mechanical drive. Some things do seem unstable too. The odd thing like window explorer crashing, and as I say, mutli-tasking. Brand new install so going online to download different programs and installing taking forever and system running really slow while installs run.
Really disappointing when I was looking forward to a big boost in performance and end up slower!
To top it off my spinny has started to play up and is making some rash noises, so would have to be a whole new spinny. Would OC take a return on the V4?

i duno you need to do something i agree
sounds like either the drive faulty or it doesnt like the controller etc
is there more than one controller on your mobo?
i really know nothing about amd mobos^^
on intel there is usually two
so maybe look at drivers for that too, chipset drivers etc

When I installed my ssd (crucial m4) i was advised to disconnect any other hdd.

just to be clear. You set AHCI before install of ssd ?

I would look at your connections (sata, power, data) maybe try another set of cables.
