Is it worth to get this kind of hard drive for new Skylake setup? Compared to let's say Evo850?

Yes. For the little extra money it costs you may as well make full use of the onboard m2 slot. Saves space as well ;)

ANd if u can hold out for a NVME they have insane IOPS of 300k.

Stock should start appearing in larger quantities from around now.

I relegated my old 830 ssd to a games drive :)

I get very similar results to you, apart from the sequential q32 reads.
30% down is well out of the margin of error.
Did you have to do anything, in particular to get it running like that ?

Also similar system, Asus X99-s, with 5820k @ 4.4 Win 8.1 with latest chipset and iRST drivers. Althouigh it doesnt show in the list of drives in iRST.

the option is under the bios and not a option in windows.
Thats what I meant. There is no option in the bios to enable disable AHCI for the m.2

given how quirky it is, perhaps being in uefi/secure boot mode is the difference?..i have the same standard microsoft driver as you,
Thats the only way to boot from the sm951. So Im also running uefi/secure boot

So I'm guessing you didn't have to force pci-e Gen 3 in any way. or any other setting.

I had to force pci-e gen 3 for my graphics card from the BIOS.( GPU-z reported it previously as running gen 2)
Just wondering if this need to be done for the m.2 slot some how.

i hadnt changed any bios settings w.r.t m.2.
just turned off csm.

My gpu is also gen 2.0..willl look out for that setting..Had to move gpu away from slot 1 due to size of nh-d15

in the BIOS >advanced>system agent > nb configuration

Mines a different board but i had to set pci-e 3 for my m2 slot as well
Cant find an option anywhere with any setting for the M.2

Is there an app that will tell you what speed the pci-e is running at, something like what GPU-z does with the graphics card ?
