Small car upgrade (with pics)

i like that :) even has a proper gear box

I'm perhaps the only person in the world who is totally indifferent when it comes to auto vs. manual. I enjoy driving both.

With the (ahem) 2.0 TDI, it made more sense to have the manual than the automatic CVT abhorrence.

I'm really enjoying the drive so far. There is some tramlining with the 19s which takes some getting used to with the ridiculously overassisted steering but aside from that... bliss.

It does look rather nice, but I can't help but thinking it's pointless given that
a) The new model is literally out now, and
b) The F10 520d is better in every single way.

Company car or private lease?

Oh, and enjoy it :D

They really are handsome from the front. 8.4 to 60 isn't too shabby for a 2.0 diesel in a car that big.

mjt - the lease (I'm guessing private as not many companies are allowing employees two year refreshes anymore) prices will surely be much lower for this than the F10 / C7.

No idea, but I can't see why they'd be *that* much higher..
Surely the resale value on a F10 or C7 will be much more than this.

Let me tell you a story...

Back in 2007, I took an A6 very much like this one (but lower spec) on a 2 year lease. At the end of that lease, they offered me the car for £13k (20k miles, as new condition with only me having ever driven it). I stupidly turned it down, thinking I'd want to be in something more exotic in the near future. Of course that didn't happen.

I'm hoping that in 2 years time VWFS will offer me a similar cash deal - residuals are going to drop through the floor once the new model comes onto the used market and the price to buy the car at the time will reflect the current market value, in contrast to PCP where the final value is decided at the start of the agreement.

Until then, I'm just going to enjoy the car. Found a new feature too - it seems to have voice command. I just need to RTFM.

Fair enough, looks full spec too. It does look a damn sight nicer than a pre-facelift SE. Fingers crossed for you in 2 years :p

Is this one of the run out 'le mans' models?

My folks are having one delivered in a couple of weeks, 170ps TDI Le Mans in Black, on a lease deal.

As has been said as it's a run out model they are being offered on some good deals lease hire.

Looks really nice. Has the one thing that really grinds my gears with modern cars though.

Buttons absolutely everywhere yet on the main part of the centre console you have a row of four buttons, 3 of which are blanks. BMW are usually the worst for this!

This is because there are many, many options.
Unless it is literally FULL spec, there will always be blanks.

Electric read folding sun blind, heated/cooled/massaged seats, yada yada..
These options are very rare and as such, there will be blanks :)
