Whats the advantage to buying a small 80gb hard drive just to have to install your OS on?

Thanks

Less to format if Windows ruins itself, might force you to be more selective about what you install and where.

Other than that not all that much that I would consider useful, they aren't particularly good on a price/size ratio (double the money spent and you get triple the space or more), some of the higher capacity drives use larger platters so are faster.

Only advantage I can see with a single small hard drive for the OS is ease when formatting (ie no need to back anything up, as all important stuff will be on another drive). It'll also keep the drive cleaner & make defraging work better due to it not having many large files.

Or you can just get 1 big drive and have 2 partitions. If the OS needs re-installing all you need to do is format the 1 partition and re-install. The other partition will be left completely alone.
