Small HTPC Case

how do you find the bundled remote with the antec case? i notice the e700 doesnt come with remote like the t500f, however the t500f seems out of stock in most places lol

Well...small! If you wire it up right in the case with the imon LCD, it can fully turn the machine on and off though -useful! Though I don't use it.

I have had a Microsoft Media Center remote for ages, and to my delight the imon software and inbuilt IR receiver in the case are fully compatible with that. I've also programmed the MCE remote to fully turn the machine on and off as well as sleep etc. I don't use the imon media center type thing (imedian maybe?), just Windows 7 Media Center, works a treat. Power DVD 9 also kind of integrates into that for my Blu-ray drive too.

Also, did you see this?

You might want to check a very popular hardware site for the T500F, they have them in stock at £40 ish. Have to check for sure that it's low profile and comes with a bracket first though.

abit fatal1ty f-I90HD with E6320 chip in it

bought from the MM, ive read mixed reviews on the MB just hoping it all just works :P

Didn't get that from mofo's did you? He's been trying to sell it for months on end! I decided on a 780G board with an Athlon X2 4200, which is working well bar the HDMI to my particular TV, resulting in me having to buy a gfx card in the end. It's a very specific issue though.

checked that site and they want £8 delivery on it :(

Forgot about that. I'm so used to the free delivery on OcUK, I rarely go other places for that sort of stuff!

I reckon your wanted thread should find a tuner, there always seems to be plenty going through the MM.

thats what i thought, just want to make sure i get one that will have a good picture. whats the resolution that your card runs at?

i want to run it all through my 32" LCD if it will work pretty clear

Well mine's been on both 1680x1050 and 1920x1080 and looked just fine, but on a TV I think the way your connecting to the TV and the TV itself are going to determine the picture quality a lot more. If you're TV is setup OK through DVI/HDMI I can't see IQ being a problem.

If you're talking about the tuner itself, the resolution is going to depend on the source channel, and the compression on some channels (like ITV2) is very high, so it looks poor. C5 on the other hand is a lot better. The cards deal with this very similarly nowadays, so I really think it's a non-issue, though I did notice a slight improvement with the E700, whether that be a hardware or software (read driver) thing I'm not sure.

interesting, we will see. well it will all be connected up using HDMI port.

can i run the sound though the TV speakers untill i get the amp and surround sound set up? or will i have to wait. sorry for all the questions. lol

If that motherboard can do audio over HDMI you should be able to. Usually it just involves changing the sound device in the sound control panel once everything is installed properly.

Once you've got an amp, you can use SPDIF to that or if it's an AV reciever type thing you can just pass the HDMI through it and it should pick up the sound. You'll need extra cables of course.

No probs, let us know how it goes. Mine's still not running properly because of my HDMI issue with my TV, but tomorrow I should have a new gfx card to remedy that.

I'd like to share tips about software with other people who've done it too. I do a lot of recording and I'm looking to convert it all to smaller files (rather than DVR-MS), just looking for an easy (and possibly automated) way.

I'm also using mediabrowser and metabrowser on win 7 WMC. I suggest checking them out, very good piece of software.

ill look into that then for sure.

i am just not sure how all this works with WMC, can you tell it to boot straight into it. i notice the option is here on my laptop to open media centre, i guess that will be explained when im all built :)

how do you find the PSU thats included. im hoping it will be more than enough power to run what i have. considering its all built in gfx

There's an option in the WMC menu that lets it start on boot, I think you've probably seen it now.

The PSU has given me no problems at all, seems plenty powerful for what I've put in, the Athlon X2 is fairly low power as is the board, no real expansion cards bar the TV card and I fully expect it to handle a Radeon 4350 with that too. It has a lot of unused cables in mine though, so you have to find somewhere to tuck them, which isn't too hard. I do wonder why though, since you can only really install one HDD and one optical drive in there. Still, nice to have extras.

yea true, cant wait to get it set up now.

only got a 500gb sata drive, but will be sure to get a rather massive one to go in there as well. of rather than!

im sure ill find the settings i need once its all installed. :) windows 7 is waiting to go on lol

Well I've got a Samsung F1 1TB in there going nicely. Bought Win 7 HP for it too as it was on the enterprise trial for the time being to test out Win 7 as an OS for a HTPC. Turns out it's excellent. So good I bought pro for my main rig too.
