Small Number of Memtest Errors

Following some odd behaviour in Windows recently I've put the full 16Gb of memory through memtest86, results below:

Memtest_Resized.jpg

It's taken until the 8th pass (~18.5 hours) for the errors to show, and an overnight Windows memory diagnostic showed no errors. Given that the error only occurs on a single bit I am not sure if this is genuine. Any memory experts care to comment?

I am now in the process of testing individual sticks to see if I can narrow the fault down. The RAM is 3 years old but should still be covered by Crucial's lifetime warranty if it does need to be RMA'd. Oh and it's running at stock, but the CPU has a small overclock as per my sig.

For info this is 4 x 4Gb sticks of CMZ8GX3M2CA1600C9 using the XMP profile (1600MHz 9-9-9-24-2T at 1.5V)

After the painful process of testing each stick individually, one of them is bad. Time to see what Corsair's RMA is like.

A quick search seems to imply Corsair's RMA is generally pretty good.

I have the tracking information that says the RAM was delivered to Corsair early yesterday, but my ticket is still stuck in the "approved" status. Does it really take them this long to book the return in and move on to the "arrived" status?

Despite zero communication - my RMA is still in approved status - the replacement RAM arrived today. I was very impressed with the speed of the RMA but.....

I originally had two 2 x 4Gb kits that were both V2.12 which I explained when creating the RMA, but was asked only to return the faulty kit. Unfortunately the replacement I've been provided is v5.21 which will not play nice with my existing V2.12 kit. Either kit works fine on it's own, but if I insert all 4 sticks the board will not post and gets stuck in a boot loop.

I've tried a CMOS reset, adding one kit then setting JEDEC timings, and two different boards but the result is the same. It seems the old pair is XMP 1.2 whilst the new is XMP 1.3 and the secondary timings are very different. Even if I could get it to work, I appreciate mixing RAM with two different ICs is likely to lead to issues anyway.

I suspect my first port of call should be to contact Corsair to see if they can replace either of the kits in order to make the versions match - has anyone been in this situation before?

Update: I contacted Corsair who arranged a collection for both my RAM kits and they have advised they will replace both kits.
