Well the technicians report said I needed new under trays and fixings that’s probably why.On the plus side though, they'll definitely be the right screws, they might even still be in your car at the moment

Unfortunately that is unobtainable, they have completed removed both front and rear under trays and have probably dumped them.A picture of your broken one may be more useful.
Thanks for the offer but I live in Jersey and I’d still need new front and rear under trays from the main dealer which amount to £198.50 plus the screws I supposedly need which would be another £4.87 if bought from China on eBay.If you ever need any work at home done, please let me know. I rarely do jobs any more but you really are a wet dream for people seeling you stuff or services.
Very good question, I’d imagine the original screws were made of steel strong enough to withstand the damage. It’s only the technician thats said I need new fixings, maybe they are supplying me with something I don’t even need.if they were ripped out when the shield was damaged then more likely the new ones wont fit?.
Would you trust your under tray fixings with the cheapest screws available from China? This. They'll all rust and rot exactly the same.
10x Mercedes official screws cost £75.50, 20x cheap equivalent screws from China cost £4.87. So I’m not spending £200 extra, it’s only £70.63 extra on the Mercedes screws.Just think to yourself what else you could do with that £200 extra you're spending.
The reason they’re so expensive is because they’re not exclusively Smart parts, they are Mercedes parts aimed at people who own expensive Mercedes vehicles who can afford to pay the ludicrous asking price. They just happen to fit Smart cars as well, most Smart exclusive parts are reasonably priced.Yeh I never said anything about how you spend your money - like you said, that's your lookout. I was simply addressing the part where you were trying justify to yourself that £7.50 Mercedes screws were somehow much better than Chinese specials and that's why they cost so much more.
I hope so, it’ll mean I’m fabulously rich.Let's be honest, he'll be driving an Aston Martin in 25 years time and still be contemplating which screws to get for the undertray on his Smart
To be fair to Mercedes not all their screws are £7.50 each this one is only €0.30No offence, but if you're willing to blow £lol on crap like this then it's not gonna be you who's rich, I can tell you that much
I don’t know, I never had a look under the car. I’m only going by the technicians report which said that both front and rear under trays were damaged with parts hanging off.Which bit broke off of yours that requires both parts to be replaced with new?
I’ve no reason to distrust the technician why would I? I’m more concerned that it’s been two months since the rear under tray was ordered and it still hasn’t arrived.I reckon a mechanic could tell you he'd have to plow your wife to diagnose your car and you'd let him
Strangely the £7.50 bolt part number A4159905400 isn’t even one of the parts? Those M6 bolts A4159901711 are only €2.31 each.It means that the bolts are 6mm diameter (M6) with a 20mm shaft length (20) in other words standard M6x20 bolts that you can get a pack of 20 of for less than a fiver
