Smart Meter installation warning!

The obvious solution would be to just move provider to one so it doesn't work any more. It *might* get fixed eventually but not for a couple of years I would think.

I've just had a smart meter fitted before I realised about the gen 1/2 fiasco but even so I don't see a downside. It didn't cost me anything and I can switch to a provider that will upgrade it when they roll out gen 2.

I was spending £1.80-£2 nearly every day when i got mine put in about april, now with nothing changing in my house really its £3 at least per day.
Ive been with EON since i moved in back in 2008 but think im finally going to shop around for my gas and electric soon

Sign up for the Cheap Energy Club and get notified if a better deal becomes available than what you're on.

Make sure you check out cashback sites like topcashback/quidco before switching. I recently switched to Npower and got £60 or something cashback by switching to them.

Sounds good to me, i was just looking on Uswitch for the first time ever but couldnt get my figures for comparison from EON because their site is down for maintenance, says it all lol

Can I ask why?
But there is no downside (unless you're unlucky and somebody messed up the initial meter reading).
Your adding yet another device that has a wireless signal which can cause interference with other wireless devices. Plus smart wireless devices are vastly more at risk of being hacked or just not getting a signal though so your reading don't make it. The main reason I didn't get one is there is no benefit for me.

That sounds like a real tinfoil hat attitude. I can honestly say there is no interference from mine. Why would somebody try and hack your energy meter?

They will eventually have to allow someone to read your meter because they will want to check you're not giving them artificially low readings.

X2. Hacking and wifi issues? Come on.
The wireless problem can be real and clearly you have never had a stalker after you. Granted its not going be a problem for most people but it’s not a tinfoil hat attitude, its unfortunately a problem some of us face. Some Stalkers want as much info as they can get even going as far as searching though your bins. Those stalkers sometimes go as far as hacking.
