But there is no downside (unless you're unlucky and somebody messed up the initial meter reading).I hate them! I would rather give the reading than it be taken automatically.
For me, having one is the downside!
I was spending £1.80-£2 nearly every day when i got mine put in about april, now with nothing changing in my house really its £3 at least per day.
Ive been with EON since i moved in back in 2008 but think im finally going to shop around for my gas and electric soon
Can I ask why?
Your adding yet another device that has a wireless signal which can cause interference with other wireless devices. Plus smart wireless devices are vastly more at risk of being hacked or just not getting a signal though so your reading don't make it. The main reason I didn't get one is there is no benefit for me.But there is no downside (unless you're unlucky and somebody messed up the initial meter reading).
I like to give the reading when I want to. I don't trust these energy companies.
That sounds like a real tinfoil hat attitude. I can honestly say there is no interference from mine. Why would somebody try and hack your energy meter?Your adding yet another device that has a wireless signal which can cause interference with other wireless devices. X2. Hacking and wifi issues? Come on.That sounds like a real tinfoil hat attitude. I can honestly say there is no interference from mine. Why would somebody try and hack your energy meter?
So you don't trust them to take an energy reading wirelessly but you do trust them to send a stranger to your house to take a reading on their behalf?

The wireless problem can be real and clearly you have never had a stalker after you. Granted its not going be a problem for most people but it’s not a tinfoil hat attitude, its unfortunately a problem some of us face. Some Stalkers want as much info as they can get even going as far as searching though your bins. Those stalkers sometimes go as far as hacking.X2. Hacking and wifi issues? Come on.
They will eventually have to allow someone to read your meter because they will want to check you're not giving them artificially low readings.
No stranger comes to my house. Have a guess how?
