Hi guys I was on the m62 tonight near Halifax/Bradford it is one of them smart motorways with the over head speed cameras and variable speed limits

The signs were not on

I was doing 86 on the sat nav and the camera flashed at my from above, am I lightly to here anything from this? Pub talk suggests there only switched on when the signs are lit up? is this true?

And it gets worse.

Always thought it possible that they would do something like this, like we aint got enough "traps" as it is already in use. Getting really tired of drivers sitting on my tail as well because I choose to do 70 mph.

Dannyw were you going towards Bradford or away from Bradford. As far as I know the cameras do flash. Seen many people get flashed by them even when not lit.

Towards bradford, I was flashed before in a Volvo never heard out

It would have been really dangerous doing 86mph on what was probably a practically empty motorway (giving the timing of the post..)
Fortunately though, these speed cameras we have now will make the roads a safer place for everyone.

Plenty of them flash, and some of them do issue tickets, but it seems to be luck of the draw as to whether you get caught or not. I suspect they're turned on selectively as the authorities know that if they sent a NIP to everyone doing over 79MPH they'd be completely overwhelmed with paperwork.

when I had a nip I just sent them their paperwork back,No Contract, return to sender! they sent it a few more times and I just repeated the process. next they sent the debt collectors round trying to fraudulently get some money out of me. Thy left empty handed.
Easy, do not admit anything and above all do not give them your name,do not sign anything either.

When was this? Are you sure you weren't given 6 points for failing to give driver details and they were simply trying to recover the fine? Just because they haven't got the money off you, doesn't mean they can't give you points.

Traps? If you think trapping involves putting massive signs everywhere, making the camera locations visible, and painting most of them bright yellow I'd hate to see you rabbit hunting!

You'd have a massive neon flashing sign pointing at the bait, while sitting in wait dressed as a clown with a Timmy Mallet style hammer to bosh them with...

Here bunny bunny bunny...

Brilliant advice... FotL pap. It's a law, there's no such thing as contracts in situations like this.

Was my thought too when i read that - what a load of rubbish.

That may have worked for private car park fines a few years ago.

Besides this is about a speeding ticket, if you ignore it, there will just be an arrest warrant against your name next time they come across you, which won't go down well.

Was this years ago or did you just dream it last night?
