SMART Warning from monitoring software

Hello guys,

I've got a Seagate Freeagent Desk for Mac 1.5TB (I've got an iMac running Windows and I appreciated the Firewire 800 port) and I've just installed HD Sentinel to monitor the health of my drives.

It's now given me a warning that "Spin Retry Count 14 => 15" - I assume that means that it normally tries to spin the drive 14 times and now that's gone up to 15?

How serious is this, and can I RMA the drive on that note?

On a sidenote, it reports power on time to be 127 days and remaining lifetime to be 513 days.

In order for Seagate to accept an RMA you'll likely have to run their testing software. Seatools for DOS is normally what I'd recommend using but I'm not sure if it would detect an external drive. Tbh the 1.5tb Seagates seem to be failing all over the place. I'd run the sea tools and consider the rma

Not sure, but if you value your data, I'd run the test regardless. I always test new drives before I use them and again if any hard drive type issues come up.
