Smartphone addiction

I don't have a phone and I am 17 lol.
Never really had a need tbh.

How do you meet up with friends?
Do you HAVE any friends?
How do you remember peoples phone numbers/birthdays etc...
What happens if you go to town and they don't turn up for some reason?

I have a smartphone but I hardly ever use the smartphone side of it, it was a present from my parents for my birthday that I never knew about so it wasn't something I specifically asked for. Annoys me the constant checking and texting people do on their phones 24/7. I can hardly talk though, I basically have OCD in regards to checking emails and responses on forums but at least I don't do this when I'm with people :p.

Phones are a great way to do some more interesting and possibly productive things than idle chatter.

Obviously if people use them in a rude manner and ignore people to do something on their phone, that is just the person being impolite and nothing to do with the phone itself really.

Phones in the modern world are an extension of most peoples lives, you can do so much on them now, they are bound to get used more and more.

I suggest you get used to it.

I'm the sad person who sits in the bar with all his friends and plays doodlejump or posts

"Jay is in bar with *tags every single person I'm sat with* drinking JD

Yes I'll freely admit thats me lol

Don't really go out with my friends that much and I just use homephone to organize anything. I don't really enjoy socializing, it's just my personality.

I remember seeing something on the news recently, on Click, that BBC tech news program.

They gave a kid, maybe 2 years old an iPad, and she could navigate it easily, then they gave her a magazine and she got so annoyed that the pages werent turning when she moved her finger across it, it was so funny

She was about 12 months old, couldn't even walk and it was a classic moment.

Funnily enough, before I had a mobile phone, I memorised everyone's phone numbers, and when friends and I had organised days/evenings out, there was always a contingency plan for anyone who was late (ie: be at a certain place at 8pm).

Strange but true! :p

Smartphones are good because you can browse the internet and use the GPS basically anywhere. If I am ever lost in the countryside I can just check my map and I know my exact location. If it wasn't for that, I would be happy with the most basic of phone.

Ask your Dad, I'm sure he has these skills just like me.

Lol my dad uses a 3310, I had to show him how to boot up the dualbooting netbook the other day lol, that was entertaining, he's in no way a techno-phobe, but he hates his phone purely because whenever it rings, he knows that he'll have to go and do some work lol.

He says when he retires, the first thing he's going to do is "accidently" drop his phone in the canal
