Smartwatch Thread (news/apps/updates)

Managed to get 42 hours from a full charge. I have just put watch on charge as it's at 9%.
What sort of usage?
I know it's early days and the watch still hasnt fully learned usage patterns but I'm finding the battery at least as good as, if not better than my original Galaxy Watch 46mm

I'm not a heavy user compared to a lot of people and I've still got a lot of playing to do but the basics are the same as the old watch, one of the big differences is the new wearable app itself.

I have used sleep tracking & the snore feature both nights.

I used the walking tracker with GPS for about 2 hours.

Then just used for getting notifications & AOD used for 4 hours.

What wireless charging pads are you guys using? My wife received her 40mm Watch 4 on Friday and I'm looking for something that will charge her watch and her old S9 phone. The Samsung duo charging pad seems the obvious choice, but wanted to check if there are any other better options?

Hmmm, definitely not impressed with the battery life. AOD off, heart rate set to once an hour, stock Samsung black face, sleep monitoring on, snoring thingy off and still went from 82% to 30% in 8 hours during the night. It only dropped 18% from around 3pm to midnight.

I'll fully recharge and factory reset before bed tonight.

Did you put the watch in to Night Time mode while you where in bed? I did & the battery hardly goes down.

I get at least 3 days out of my Ticwatch Pro 3 GPS

Yeah, because of the additional software and hardware modifications Ticwatch have built in, such as a low power LCD display that sits on top of the main screen. It's the same as Fossil with the additional battery modes they built in, which aren't in stock WearOS as they were not available on other WearOS watches.

There are "smart watch" platforms that get 10+ days of battery life, I use the term smart watch loosely in those examples because they simply focus on notifications and fitness tracking, and don't have applications outside of the ones that come pre-installed. E.g. Huawei's LiteOS.

It's always about balance with wearables, and its easy to see Google still haven't got it right when it comes to battery life. Pretty much every major Android phone OEM went in their own direction with wearables when it comes to the OS they run.

It's typical of Google and Android though because they've tried to shoe horn Android into every format/platform, starting from the same base/fork originally. Look at tablets with Honeycomb, the initial Google/Android TV builds, or WearOS.

Everyone has said WearOS has been held back by Qualcomm and it's awful wearable chips, but even with a 5nm Samsung wearable focused chip, the battery life still isn't in Tizen's ball park. I.e. the issue is clearly WearOS.

Just put my to watch 3 pro next to my 46mm classic.
The galaxy watch screen is way smaller.

Wondering if I got the right watch.

Looks like they sent me a 42mm in a 46mm box.

Still processing (sad face), Galaxy Watch4 Classic silver with silver Classic Hybrid Leather Strap (M/L). Ordered daring event. Probably a stock thing. Counting down 27th.

I know how you feel. I ordered a 44mm Sliver & 2 extra straps on the day of the event & they are still at 'Processing' while the black I ordered 5 days later has been delivered & is on my wrist.

Just curious but what use is snore detection?

I would say it's more useful to know what you're like so you know what people sharing a bed with you are putting up with.
three weeks ago I had to sleep with my Brother in Law on a stag weekend and I've heard nothing like it.
I know him and my Sister in Law sleep apart and I now think that's the reason but she has made up another excuse.

Daring the event the black had already sold our for me, crazy but then silver looked quiet nice, like my old analog from my teenage years. I'll wait...come on!
